Human Sexuality and Responsibilities Parent Orientation
An age-appropriate human sexuality and responsibility unit focusing on conscious, healthy, and respectful choices will be taught to all Austin ISD students. The unit is taught to students in kindergarten through high school in the months of November/December and during the months of April/May for students enrolled in the high school health education course for the Spring semester. Lessons for all grade levels have been revised for the 2022-2023 school year to meet the updated health TEKS and new state laws.
On Tuesday, November 1st at 8:00am, we will have a Parent Orientation on ZOOM with Mrs. Komassa. The purpose of this meeting will be to:
Inform about state and local Human Sexuality and Responsibility education curriculum policies
Including information regarding Opt-IN processes
Share Human Sexuality and Responsibility lesson overviews
Answer any questions you may have
If you are unable to attend, all HS&R Lessons can be accessed on the AISD Website at: https://www.austinisd.org/pe-health/health-education/hsr/lessons

Oak Hill's Dual Language information Session & Campus Tour Coming in November
At 4:00, we will do a tour for ALL prospective families to Oak Hill.
OHE After School Track Club
Track Club is now open to 50 OHE Eagles, Grades K - 5th .
We meet every Wednesday starting Nov. 2nd - April 26th after school from 3:10 until 3:40, weather permitting. There is NO bus transportation available after school so you will need to make arrangements to have your child picked up promptly at 3:40. If your child goes to after school care on campus, I will make sure s/he will go there directly and you can pick them up as you usually do.
Two things to consider:
1. Membership is limited to 50 students. Due to this limitation on membership, please have a conversation with your child to be sure s/he is EXCITED to be on the track with us after school! In some families, one child is excited but their sibling might not be. Please consider only signing up the one that wants to be there with us.
2. Membership dues of $10 plus taxes is a part of registration. Dues will pay for a Track Club t-shirt, supplies, ribbons, spirit sticks and the end of the year celebration. I will send out a separate email to the families who have registered on how to pay for Track Club.
Registration is open now. If you are able to register your child, then s/he is one of the 50 members. Click on this link to submit the paperwork and turn in your payment to complete the process.
https://forms.gle/zUxqgpVsADfvESm66
Once our limit is hit, you will no longer be able to access the registration link document. If that happens, send me an email and we can start a waiting list.
Have a healthy and physically active day!

Weather Guidelines
The mornings are getting cooler and I wanted to send out the AISD weather guidelines. We do have morning recess outside, unless it is not raining and we adhere to the guidelines. Please make sure your child dresses accordingly.
Report Cards
Report Cards go out Friday, Nov. 4. How will I receive my child's report card?
Parents have three options of obtaining their student’s report card.
1. AISD Portal
The AISD Portal serves as the primary resource for all of the services provided online to parents/guardians. This site gives parents/guardians direct access to their student's information, online registration, district-wide information and links to other often used services.
2. Frontline Parent Self Serve
Parent Self-Serve is the portal that allows parents to view their child's schedule, attendance, and grades. Parents can email teachers and set notification alerts if they want to receive emails when their child has been marked absent or has a missing assignment. Parents can also change their contact information here which will update it on their contact record in Frontline SIS.
3. Direct Email
Report cards will be direct emailed on Friday, Nov. 4 to the enrolling parent email on file.

ID's REQUIRED
Please remember to bring your ID with you EVERY time you visit campus. It is a requirement that we scan in your ID each time you come onto the campus. We appreciate you helping us to follow the procedures and keep our students safe!
It's Cold Outside
October and November bring cooler mornings and evenings. Please do take a look at the weather before school starts as our Eagles prepare to come to school and enjoy their morning recess time. Austin weather can easily get into the low 50s Fahrenheit which requires students to wear long sleeves or a jacket for short periods of time. If you are missing one of your children's favorite sweaters or jackets they could easily be here in our lost and found. Today we counted almost 100 items on the hangers, about 13 water bottles and 10 lunch boxes in the area near the cafeteria without names. Please remind your children to check the lost and found if they are missing their winter clothes. It is also extremely helpful if any of these items have a name and last name or a phone number on them so that it can be returned to the rightful owner.

SEL Trait of the Month
"Kindness" is the SEL Trait of the Month for October. We have been going to all the classrooms this month and reading the story, "A Little Spot of Kindness." Kindness can be shown in so many ways, but here are a few: sharing, helping, practicing good manners, apologizing, choosing kind words, inviting someone to play, standing up for someone, or something you believe in, and so much more! We have been modeling this for our students and hope you can continue the learning by modeling at home. We are also making antennae for all our students to wear on "Bee Kind" Day, which will be on November 14. In celebration of World Kindness Day, students will dress like bees by wearing yellow and black, and the antennae we are making. We can't wait to see everyone BEE KIND on this day!

Energy-- Worth Saving?
Leaf blowers, self-cleaning ovens, car washes… How many of these “labor-saving” inventions do you use? Even if these save your energy, they may leave you sitting on the couch.
Try some of these ideas from the CATCH Program:
• Rake your leaves. Avoid the noise and pollution of a leaf blower. You will save money and use less electricity or gasoline.
• Let your kids help you wash the car. You will save money by doing it yourself.
• Turn chores into family fun. Get up and start moving.
Help your family be more active!
Masks:
With the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, students, staff and visitors are not required to wear face masks when on school properties, unless they have tested positive for COVID-19. Note: Per CDC guidance, individuals with a positive COVID-19 result will be required to wear a mask for five days after returning from quarantine/isolation.
- Masks are not required, but are encouraged at any time of the school day or in any school space.
- Masks are optional at all times.Face masks will continue to be provided for any student, staff, or visitor upon request.
All students, staff, and visitors will be allowed to make their own choice.
Close Contact and Contact Tracing
Campus administrators will notify all families of positive cases on the campus using a standard notification letter. Individual classroom letters will not be sent home.
With masking now being optional, all students and staff at the campus may be considered close contacts when there is a positive case identified.
Campus Administrators will not be required to track close contacts.
Any asymptomatic individual (except those who have tested positive) may remain at school as long as they are asymptomatic.
Testing Availability
Testing sites are located at specified district sites and can be found on the COVID-19 district webpage.
All sites will accept insurance, medicaid, and self-pay.
Site will be updated whenever vaccines are available.
