We cannot thank you enough for the support you are providing your students as we all learn more in Schoology. Now that student and teacher accounts are up and running, we want to provide you with information about your parent account. Please check your student's NISD email account on Sept. 18.

You will receive an email with your student's Schoology Access Code and instructions for creating a parent account. If you are not able to access the email, you can reach out to your child's second period teacher for the access code. Schoology offers parents many options to view classwork, grades, and upcoming assignments. You can also check attendance, look for overdue assignments, and communicate with your student's teachers.

Harlan has produced a video to outline some of the procedures that students must follow as we begin to return groups of students to the campus.

Attendance Required for Course Credit

In order for a student to receive high school credit, that student must be present at least 90% of the time. Teachers are taking daily attendance, and this rule is in effect for both distance and in-person learners.

A student will lose credit for a course after that student exceeds 8 absences per course in the Fall Semester and 10 absences per course in the Spring Semester.

Remember that students are counted present when they engage with the class, teacher, or course material at any time throughout the day. You may contact your teachers or Mr. Hebert at 398-2219 with any questions about attendance.

Starting Sept. 14, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved Free Breakfast & Lunch to enrolled Northside ISD students whether they are for in-person or virtual learners. Free Breakfast & Lunch will also be served at our 65 grab-n-go meal locations for community children 18 years old and younger. These children do not need to be enrolled at Northside ISD. The USDA Free Meal Program ends Dec. 31, 2020.

Parents/legal guardians picking up meals without a child at our grab-n-go meal locations must present one of the following for identification purposes:

1. Official letter/email from school listing of children enrolled
2. Report cards
3. Attendance records
4. Birth certificates
5. Student ID cards

No copies are required. Just present one of the above identifications per child and meals will be provided.
