Thank you all for your continued kindness and contributions to our community. We had a great Elementary Field Day full of foam and fun!! Thank you to all of the parent volunteers, PTA, staff and teachers that made Elementary Field Day a great success.We are looking forward to a spectacular Middle School Field Day on Tuesday 4/29/25.

We are excited to announce that we completed all of the requirements to now be a designated "No Place for Hate" campus. Thank you to Ms. Morales, our counselor for your efforts and dedication in bringing this program to our campus. Making a public commitment to challenge bias and bullying means a greater likelihood of follow through. We are elated to continue to improve our student climate & culture here at Dealey.

This week, we will also enjoy College & Career Day on Thursday , May 1, 2025. The 8th grade dance is Friday night and we can't wait to celebrate with them. Friday, May 2, 2025 we will be out of school.

We hope you all enjoy the upcoming 3 day weekend!

Dear Dealey Families,

Every May we begin the process of assigning students to an appropriate class for next year. The Dealey staff spends much time and effort on this placement process. In putting together class lists for next year, we will consider many factors including research-based grouping strategies. We utilize the classroom teacher’s knowledge of every student, and in addition, our academic support teachers (504, ESOL, SPED), specialists, counselors and administrators provide input and review the proposed class lists.

Best Fit Emails to Teacher Only (Current Students moving to new hall)

We will always consider best fit & your child's personality traits. These details must be emailed directly to your student's teacher by April 30, 2025 for existing students.

New Student Survey (All new students in all grades)

All new to Dealey students & families will receive a survey in the upcoming new family newsletter.

Given the complexity of placing all students, we will NOT consider the following requests:

· Requests for a specific teacher.

· Requests that specific students be placed with your child.

· Requests NOT to have a specific teacher, unless you have had another child with that teacher in the past.

Summer Notification

Your child’s classroom teacher will be sent out to you by July 31st.

Please understand that once homeroom teachers are assigned and students are placed, the lists are final. Moving even one child from a class can upset the balance of a classroom or interfere with scheduling. Students approach the new school year in a positive light when we encourage them to be excited about making new friends and getting to know a new teacher.

We will not conduct individual conferences or meetings with the administration or counselors regarding placement committee decisions.

Dallas ISD Level I Appeal

If you need to file a placement complaint, you will be required to go through the formal Dallas ISD Appeal process. You will have only 10 business days after receipt of placement to file your formal appeal to the campus principal.

Again, each Dealey student will be hand placed with great care. Each student’s emotional well-being and academic success is our priority!

Dear Edwina JR. follows the adventures of plucky, advice-giver-extraordinaire, Edwina Spoonapple, as she directs the neighborhood kids in a series of buoyant production numbers for the latest edition of her weekly "Advice-a-Palooza.” Edwina and her friends share wisdom on everything from trying new foods to making new friends through clever, catchy and poignant songs.

Book and Lyrics by Marcy Heisler. Music by Zina Goldrich. Dear Edwina JR. is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).

Students must obtain prior approval before using personal telecommunications or other personal electronic devices for instructional use. When students are not using the devices for approved instructional purposes, all devices must be turned off during the instructional day. Violations of the user agreement may result in withdrawal of privileges and other disciplinary action.
