Bowling Night - "Cereal Bowl"
Our youth went bowling at Bowlero Bowling in Cary for our “Cereal Bowl” outreach event. The entire event with games, prizes, and a devotion was centered around a common theme of breakfast cereal. The youth in attendance brought their favorite breakfast cereals for a potluck dinner and the extra boxes (15) were donated to the CUOC food bank. Come join our group every Sunday from 4-5pm in the Harriss Youth Building for on and off campus fun... They're Grrrrrreat!
"Prayer for the Schools"
"I love you, Lord; you are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies." (Psalms 18:1-3 NLT)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
On Sunday, Sept. 22 the youth traveled to San Lee Middle School to pray for God's blessings and protection for all schools, students, and faculty in Lee County, in N.C., in our nation, and around the world.
Upcoming Sunday School Lessons
[Nov. 24] CHRIST THE KING SUNDAY: A lesson on God’s ultimate authority that qualifies him to be the King of kings and Lord of lords. We look at the Apologetics and Outreach Roots in this lesson. The sovereign Lordship of God brings hope to his people and it’s a hope worth sharing to others.
Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords. As Christ-followers, we submit to God as our King. We submit our will and desires to his. This is a good thing because God is good. We can trust him to lead us better than we can lead ourselves.
[Dec. 1] "Servant" - A lesson on how God is actively involved and working in the lives of his people.
[Dec. 8] "Immanuel" A Christmas lesson proving that God cares for and understands us because he became one of us.
[Dec. 15] "Exciting News" - Disciples of Christ have access to the peace that surpasses all understanding.
[Dec. 22] "Wise Gifts" - Disciples of Christ give their gifts to the Lord.
[Dec. 29] "Follow" - Disciples of Christ pursue a life with Jesus.
Youth Opportunities on Sunday Mornings
Sunday School is offered every Sunday morning at 10am. Join Buck & Katie Harriss and Munsey & Katherine Wheby in the Youth Harriss Building as they teach from The Think Orange Youth Curriculum.
Worship: Youth are encouraged to be ever-present in Worship. We offer three services every Sunday: a traditional service in the Casey Chapel at 8:30, a contemporary service in the DCLC at 9am, and a traditional service at 11am in the Sanctuary. Youth are also invited to be a part of the Sanctuary choir, the Wicker Street Band praise team, the Worship Broadcast Team, and(or) Scripture Readers. Youth also play a primary role in the 11am Sanctuary service by serving as acolytes, crucifers, and oftentimes ushers. If any of these may interest you please reach out ASAP to get plugged in!

About the Youth Pastor...
- I am from Blythewood, South Carolina.
- I graduated from The Citadel in 2012 and Duke Divinity School in 2018 and played rugby at both.
- I previously served 2 appointments in SC before moving to NC and have been at Saint Luke UMC since January 2022.
- I have a wife, Kendall, who really is my better half, and two daughters. Hadley, who just turned 3 and is really into David Bowie right now for some reason, and my soon to be 1 year old, Hazel, who is just the sweetest.
- What I love most about youth ministry is building relationships, making life-long disciples, and sharing the love of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
- Other than the world's most popular book (aka, The Holy Bible), my favorite book in the whole world is The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
- I'm a firm believer in not "just inviting youth to the party, but giving them a seat at the table." In other words, I believe in the importance of helping our youth grow toward maturity in the faith and encouraging them to live out the fruits of the Holy Spirit as followers (aka disciples) of Jesus Christ.
- In order to help our youth become better disciples my plan this year is to do just that...Go out and Be Christ-like in our monthly outreach and mission events as outlined in our 2024-2025 calendar.
Can't wait for an exciting year with you all!
