A Message From Mrs. Carmody
Dear Fremont Families,
What a beautiful day! Our students and staff are enjoying the warmer weather and the ease of not having to bundle up in snow gear.
We’re excited for the PTO March Madness basketball game tomorrow! If you’re attending, I’d love to meet you—please feel free to stop me and say hello. I am looking forward to connecting with more of our wonderful families!
With gratitude,
Beth Carmody
Our kindergarten students had so much fun designing and building their own leprechaun traps in hopes of catching a tricky visitor! Using their creativity, they crafted traps with rainbows, gold coins, and hidden surprises. While no leprechauns were caught, students were thrilled to find tiny green footprints, scattered gold coins, and a few overturned traps—evidence that a mischievous
leprechaun had been in their classrooms. It was an exciting and memorable
St. Patrick’s Day activity filled with curiosity and laughter!

Summer School Open Now!
The time is here to sign up for two out of the five summer school programs that Fremont School District is offering this summer!
1- Summer Adventures in Learning (sign up here) consists of one-week interest-based enrichment courses led by Fremont staff! There are two time-sessions each day, which allows you to sign up for two classes per week. Classes may fill up, or need to be canceled, so you will be able to indicate a first and second choice for each of the six class periods between June 9th and June 27th. This is also the form to sign up for bus transportation. There are no mid-session bus routes, so anyone signing up for only one class per week will need to provide transportation.
2- Summer Boost (sign up here) is an asynchronous continuation of student learning online. All students will have access to online learning tools used throughout the school year, but signing up for Summer Boost connects your child with a teacher who will help to monitor their online progress, offer encouragement, and provide optional office hours.
3- Summer Scholars, 4- Extended School Year, and 5- Multilingual, are all programs that are invitation-only. You should be hearing from teachers and case managers soon if your child is invited to attend this summer. These three programs offer tailored assistance with Math and Reading, in-person from June 6th-June 27th.
Please reach out to Alana Davidov, adavidov@fsd79.org, Fremont Intermediate School Assistant Principal, for help or questions!
2025-2026 School Year Registration Now Open
Spread The Love
Many families in our Fremont community need much more than food. There are some items that can’t be bought with Food Stamps, so we would like to help supply them to make things a little easier in addition to some food items. Please see the attached list for donation suggestions. Donations can be brought to school. There will be a table in the front hallway. Donations are due by: Friday, March 14th
Kids Heart Challenge
We have been learning jump roping skills in PE class the last several weeks and along with that participating in the Kids Heart Challenge put on by the American Heart Association. We have been raising money to help the cause and combat heart disease. To date Fremont Elementary has already raised $17,329 which exceeds our $15,500 goal. That is amazing. There is still time to donate as we can accept donations until March 18th. Click on this link to register. Remember donating is completely optional and all students are participating in the Kids Heart Challenge regardless of donating or not.
Any questions can be directed to our PE teachers Mr. Bonner (jbonner@fsd79.org) and Mrs. Spino (jspino@fsd79.org).
Exciting Author Visit at Fremont Elementary!
We are thrilled to announce that award-winning author Jean Reidy will be visiting Fremont Elementary School on March 18, 19, and 20! During her visit, students will have the wonderful opportunity to hear Jean Reidy speak about her books and the writing process with their class.
Books will be available for purchase, and students will have the chance to get their copies
signed by the author! This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire young readers and writers—don’t miss out! Book orders were sent home with students. A special thank you to our PTO for helping make this exciting event possible! For more information about Jean Reidy please visit her website www.jeanreidy.com
We Need Your Feedback: Take the 5Essentials Parent Survey!
Fremont School District 79 greatly values your feedback as it relates to your student’s educational experience. Once again, the State of Illinois has partnered with 5Essentials to create a forum by which you can provide your input. To date, we have the following parent participation rates:
