Mrs. Dupuis' Band/Music Update

SAVE THE DATES:

Friday, Dec. 20 - Jazz @ Lunch - Jazz Band performs at all 3 lunches

Thursday, Jan 16 - Winter Band Concert - Grade 6, 7 & 8 perform at 9:30am & 7:00pm

Wednesday, March 12 - Jazz MIOS @ FHS - Cameron Jazz Band performs at 7pm

Thursday, June 5 - Spring Band Concert - Grade 6, 7 & 8 perform at 9:30am & 7:00pm

All Cameron Band members are expected to participate in the Winter Concert. Here are the details:

• Report to 2 performances: 9:30am for the school and 7:00pm for families. Evening report time is 6:30pm.
• Wear Concert Dress at both performances. Concert Dress is formal Black and White or all Black. If students need clothing please reach out to Mrs. Dupuis at cdupuis@framingham.k12.ma.us
• Students must report to Cameron at 6:30pm. Concert order is: Grade 6, Grade 7, Grade 8 and Jazz Band. CLICK HERE FOR THE PROGRAM. Please check the lists for correct spellings. Notify Mrs. Dupuis of any errors by 1/2/2025.
• We are looking for Parent Volunteers and Donations. CLICK HERE to volunteer or donate.

All Band members must fill out the bi weekly practice record to receive an "A" in band. Practice is an essential part of learning to play and instrument. HERE is a link to a printable practice record.

Band members must also have the Band Contract signed.

Term 2 playing quizzes are due March 12th.

• Grade 6 must play the Basic Band Eb Concert Scale.
• Grade 7 must play the first Basic Band Chorale
• Grade 8 must play the Eb Concert Scale and Technique Builder

Quizzes can be taken in class, homeroom, at lunch or after school. Students may also email a video of the playing quiz.

If you have any outgrown concert clothing please send them to the main office and label them "For Mrs. Dupuis." We need:

Boys size 12 - Mens XL - white button down shirts, black dress pants, belts, black dress shoes

Girls size 12-Women XL - white blouses, black dress pants, black skirts, black dress shoes

This year Mrs. Dupuis is teaching both 7th and 8th Grade "Music Appreciation." In 7th Grade we focus on creating and performing music using drum circles. We also learn to read mixed percussion ensemble music and create our own compositions using various types of music technology programs. In 8th grade we will also be performing in drum circles as well as learning about rock, pop and rap from the 1950's to today. Grade 8 students will compose a playlist of their favorite music from each era. I am looking forward to a great year of learning through Music!
