First Grade Conversation Starters
5.8.15
Ole! We began this week with a fun-filled Pajama Day, celebrated Cinco de Mayo on Tuesday and ended the week with States Hats Day and a fun visit from Mr. Pinto (Director for the Day). It was another fantastic week! Enjoy your weekend and Happy Mother's Day!
Some conversation starters to share with your first grader:
* What does Cinco de Mayo mean in English? How is Cinco de Mayo celebrated?
* Tell me about traditional Mexican clothing.
* Who were the first people living in Mexico?
* What does it mean for living creatures, people, plants, to be NATIVE to an area?
* Tell me about some of the different birds that you have learned about in science (think math lab bingo game).
Director for a Day
Mr. Pinto joined our class today. As Director for the Day, he read a story, provided ice pops and gave the first graders some extra recess.
