Updates from DCS
We congratulate Susana Lapeyrade-Drummond on her appointment of Associate Superintendent for the Diocese of Oakland. I first met Susana when we were both principals in the Diocese of Oakland and I am happy for her that she will be returning to the Diocese where she lives. Susana has been an HUGE asset to the Department of Catholic Schools in her work with curriculum & instruction, the New Principal Induction Program, and in supporting many schools throughout our Archdiocese. I know that Susana is a friend of many in this Archdiocese and she will be greatly missed.

Schoolspeak Conduct Reports
Update is bolded and italicized below.
- When we have major discipline issues, please write up a conduct report.
- If the students are sent to my office, students will be required to complete a Behavior Reflection Form.
- When students are sent to my office for serious offences, I will call home to the parents, so the parents will not need to be notified twice.
- Many tiimes, I will write a conduct report on schoolspeak if the situation warrants this action.
- If it is a conduct report that you are writing for repeated misbehaivor please handle this on your own by informing the parents via a conduct report on Schoolspeak.
- If I suspend students, only the homeroom teacher and Maureen will get the notice. Therefore I ask the homeroom teacher to request all of the work needed for this student from the other teachers and inform the other teachers that this student has been suspended and for how long.
I thank you for your understanding. Unfortunately, some of the more recent situations have taken an entire morning or afternoon or even several days of sporatic attention until I am able to fully put a disciplinary issue fully to rest.
3 Question Walkthrough
March Walkthroughs
I will conduct as many walkthroughs as possible and ask your students the following questions.
- What are you learning today? (Learning Intention / Target)
- Why are you learning this today? (Connection to the world outside of school)
- How do you know that you learned this today? (Success Criteria)
The goal is for everyone to have their Learning Intentions and success criteria posted and visible to all students in your classroom. At the very least, your success criteria should be incorporated into your lesson slides.
Unfortunately, I was never able to get to the January Walkthroughs. So we move onto February.
