MRHS raises $23,000 for Make-A-Wish!
A huge shoutout to the amazing DECA students and staff at Mountain Range High School for raising over $23,000 for Make-A-Wish Colorado! We also celebrated Levi’s birthday during our exciting Pie in the Eye Pep Assembly! Students challenged teachers to raise funds for Make-A-Wish, and the best part? Whoever lost had the honor of getting a pie to the face! Levi even got to take part and pie the mad scientist!
Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this event such a fun and meaningful success. You’ve helped make a big impact!

Basecamp/Advisory News
The purpose of the Basecamp/Advisory program is to support a successful transition into MRHS. During the first part of the school year, Basecamp leaders have been working hard in their classrooms to help Freshmen orient themselves to life in high school and what it takes to be successful.
Over the last month, we have worked to build class culture and help students set meaningful life goals (short-term and long-term). In the current unit, we will be working to understand executive functioning (organization, sustained attention, Task initiation, self-control, working memory, Emotional control, and planning). As we close out September, we will plan on discussing digital citizenship, self-awareness, and social awareness. We look forward to providing skills that students will be able to use in their everyday lives and assist them in better navigating this dynamic world we live in.
Gifted + Talented News
Gifted and Talented News from Ms. Seckendorf, GT Advocate: We just had our first GT lunch last week in the Stampede Room and it was a success. Students were able to fill out a survey to let me know topics they wanted covered this year. If your student missed the lunch, this survey is in the GT Schoology page, along with all future lunch dates.
This Wednesday, September 25th at 7:00 PM, in the Auditorium: I will host a GT parent meeting to talk about gifted and talented, what it looks like at the high school level, how to support your student, and answer any questions. I hope you can make it.
October 3rd: students will meet by grade level to choose the ALP (Advanced Learning Plan) goals for this year. Seniors will meet period 2, Juniors/per. 3, Sophomores/ per. 7, and Freshmen will meet during their Basecamp time. These meetings will be in the Stampede Room.

City of Broomfield Transportation Safety Action Plan
Share your safety concerns and ideas to improve transportation safety, especially around Broomfield schools at https://www.broomfieldvoice.com/btsap. Your input, combined with safety and collision data, will be used to create the Broomfield Transportation Safety Action Plan (BTSAP). The BTSAP will identify ways to improve safety on Broomfield’s multimodal transportation network and include both action steps and recommendations that aim to reduce crashes and serious injuries when traveling in Broomfield. The survey and map close on Oct. 1.
Join our School Accountability Committee!
The School Accountability Committee (SAC) is an opportunity for parents and community members to have a voice in the continuous school improvement process. This team of volunteers meets with one or more teacher representatives and the building administration throughout the year to review school data, discuss the school improvement plan, provide recommendations about spending priorities and promote parent and community engagement. Members of the team learn about the important work of the school and offer insight and feedback. For more information, visit the Adams 12 SAC Handbook.
Meetings will be virtual for the 2024-25 school year from 5:00-6:30pm. If you are interested in being a member, please fill out this form. We are always looking for new members.
Questions? Please send an email to our Principal, Tiffany Hansen.
RTD Zero Fare for Youth
Did you know that all children and teens ages 19 and under can take ride with RTD at no cost? This helps to reduce transportation costs for families and removes barriers to education and employment for those that need it. Students can access this program with a current school ID, but others in the family may also access it by showing one of the following to the bus operator or fare inspector: valid government-issued ID, alien registration/permanent resident card, Military ID/dependent card with DOB, RTD-issued youth special discount card. To request a RTD-issued youth special discount card please contact us at specialdiscount@rtd-denver.com.
Student ID Required to Board Bus
Student IDs are required for every high school student for every ride as school bus passes are incorporated into the student ID. Since all students are required to scan their bus pass for each ride, students without a student ID will not be allowed on the bus.
If students have lost their ID, they may visit Student Relations for a replacement ID. Students are given one free ID and allowed 2 free replacements for lost IDs. Subsequent replacements are $5. Fines are added to student accounts automatically.
Helpful Attendance Reminders
- Attendance calls go out twice a day: 10:30am and 4:30pm. If you call out your student prior to 10:30, please be aware you may still receive the 10:30am call if we haven't not had the chance to reach your original message in the queue. If you also receive a message at 4:30pm, please call and leave another message.
- If you know in advance that your student will be missing school, please have your student pick up a Request for Pre-Arranged Absence form from the Main Office or Student Relations.
- Attendance mistakes do happen, and if it happens to your student, please call the attendance line at 720-972-6313. They will walk you through the process for your student to get attendance corrected.
Student ID Cards
As per District Policy 5060.5.0 "All middle and high school students are required to carry on their person an unaltered school issued photo identification card (ID) during school hours, or at such times, locations, and activities specifically identified by the building principal; provided however, that the building principal shall have the discretion to impose a stricter requirement regarding student wearing of school issued photo ID cards based upon safety and/or related concerns."
For Mountain Range, your MINGA Id is also acceptable if it shown on your Chromebook or via the MINGA app. In an effort to keep our campus safe, we will be checking ID's on a more frequent basis to ensure students are where they are supposed to be. Thank you.

Reminders on the District’s Attendance Policy
Here are a few helpful reminders on the District’s Attendance Policy:
Absences need to be excused within 2 school days. This does not count the weekend.
Students may be excused for 5 days without a doctor's documentation. This includes vacations, “no reason given”, mental health day, family reasons, weather, and road conditions, along with other reasons. This year, the district has made an exception to allow absences for covid related symptoms. They do ask students to stay home if they are not feeling well. Therefore, these absences will be excused.
Remember that any time your student has a doctor’s appointment of any kind, have the doctor give them a note to excuse that absence. Have your student bring that note to the attendance clerk in Student Relations when they return to school.
Anytime you know in advance that your student will not be in attendance for 3 days or more, there is a “Request for Pre-arranged Absence” form. This may be picked up in Student Relations or the main office. This form is to be filled out by a guardian and signed. It is then taken around to all the teachers to sign and given to the main office staff. This form is then approved by an Assistant Principal and entered into Infinite Campus. These absences do not count toward the 5 days allowed without a doctor note.
To get your student out early, the call must be made to the early release line prior to 2:30 pm. We will not be able to get a student out of class for walk-up parents/guardians past 2:45 pm.
Call our attendance line at 720-972-6400 to leave a message 24 hours a day.
