The Stingray Review
Seaside Elementary
Dear Seaside Families,
I hope this finds all of our families enjoying the weekend! I cannot believe that this upcoming week will be the last week of October as we head into the month of November. We have a lot of things coming up! On Monday, October 28, 2024 our Boosterthon Fundraising program starts which is headed up by our PTO. We also have Red Ribbon week starting on Monday, and information on that can be found below. On Tuesday, October 29 St. James High School is hosting a Trunk or Treat from 5:30-7. If you are able to, please consider bringing a few non-perishable items and dropping them off for the local food bank. There will be someone from St. James High School collecting those items at the Trunk or Treat. Thursday, October 31 is Halloween and while we are not having parties or any type of dress up day you are allowed to have your child bring in a treat for their classmates. We ask that things sent in are always prepackaged from the store. We cannot let any of our students eat something that has been made from home for safety purposes. If you do have a student that has food allergies you are more than welcome to send something in for them. Please don't forget that we are honoring our Veterans for Veterans Day on Monday, November 11. We are having breakfast for our Veterans on that morning at 7:45 A.M and that will last until 8:30 A.M. Right after that we have two performances from our 3rd and 4th graders. If you are a Veteran and want to come to the breakfast please fill out our link so that we are able to plan for the breakfast. The link can be found here as well as below this message. Link ( https://forms.gle/NxG25AugUmoxzdjf8 )
Thank you for all of your support to our school. I hope everyone is able to enjoy the weekend and we will see all of our amazing students back at school Monday, October 28, 2024.

Second Quarter Lockdown Drill
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As part of our Crisis Management plan, Seaside Elementary takes part in safety drills every year. On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, students and staff at Seaside Elementary School will be participating in our second mandatory practice lockdown drill for the school year. We are required to hold that drill quarterly during the school year. The purpose of this drill is to prepare our students and staff for any emergency that may occur where it may be necessary for us to lock down classrooms and/or the entire building.
In preparation for the drill, our staff will explain to students that we are practicing being safe just as we do for tornado, earthquake, and fire drills. Staff members will walk through the steps with students to ensure that they know and understand our lockdown procedures. Staff members will also prepare students prior to Tuesday morning about the announcement that will be made prompting everyone to follow our school lockdown procedures, and that this is simply practice.
Safety is our top priority at Seaside Elementary School. We conduct drills because we want students and staff members to be safe as well as to develop an awareness of their roles in these various scenarios. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the upcoming lockdown drill.
Sincerely,
Andrew Ball Ed.D, Principal
Morgan Emsley, Assistant Principal
Clear Backpack Policy
We have noticed that students are putting a lot of stickers all over their clear backpack. This makes it very hard to see through the backpack. Trademark logos can only be so big. Please check your student's backpack to make sure that it can be clearly seen through. Also, please make sure that they are only bringing things that they actually need for school.
To check out more information regarding clear backpacks please visit https://www.horrycountyschools.net/clearbackpacks for more specifics and FAQs regarding the clear backpack protocols.
**We do not want to call and upset you about your student's backpack. However, we must enforce the clear backpack policy. Thank you for your understanding and help with this safety and security policy.**
Clear Backpack Policy
Backpacks must have clear visibility through all dimensions excluding the backpack bottom. We have clear backpacks in our front office. They are free to our students. Please call or stop in and we will gladly give you a free clear backpack that meets the HCS policy.

Attendance Matters!

- 5 accumulative unexcused absences
- 10 unexcused tardy/early sign-outs

Please check your child's backpack!
Please check your child's backpack for inappropriate items, personal electronic devices, toys, stuffed animals, Pokemon cards, sports cards, plush toys etc. Please also make sure that they are not putting stickers all over their clear backpack. This makes it very hard to see through the clear backpack. We do not want your child losing their personal items. We are not responsible for any lost items. We do not want any items coming to school that may cause a safety issue or cause your child to get into trouble for. Please only have your child bring school related materials.
