PLEASE do not do all of the assignments right away. Just turn in assignments that are due. If you go through all of the SmartMusic assignments super early then more will be assigned. To keep track, I created a "CHECK HERE FIRST" document in Google classroom so you know exactly what is due when. Students are doing assignments way to early (some of you have April 10th assignments done!) Do not try to get them all done, just follow the due dates.

This award is the pinnacle of achievement in a high school band. Introduced in 1955 to honor the top student in the high school band, the John Philip Sousa Band Award recognizes superior musicianship and outstanding dedication. It was created with the approval of Helen Sousa Albert and Priscilla Sousa, daughters of the famous composer and bandmaster. This award goes to the most musical Senior. This is a National Award in which 1 senior is recognized every year from every participating High School. Mr. Brunger did not earn this award, but his father did! Also so did Mrs. Boettler. This award is not a popularity vote. Be honorable with your choice.

This award was inaugurated in 1974 with the consent of his widow shortly after this great jazz artist died in 1971. It honors the outstanding jazz musician at each high school.

Please encourage you child to practice around 10 minutes a day on their concert music. Sometimes students go into performances not knowing their part in a piece. We can’t have that happen, everyone has an equal part in contributing to a song and we need everyone to dedicated a small portion of their day to personal musical improvement. They have SmartMusic assignments! Please ask them to get these done!

One very special thing that is happening during our time of seclusion is that many places are offering up free things! One is a very special Leadership Training. If you see below, Scott Lang is planned to come out and do a Leadership course on June 10. Scott Lang has opened up his online Leadership course in which ALL CURRENT STUDENT LEADERS, JUNIORS, SENIORS, and ANY SOPHOMORES & FRESHMAN interested in Leadership to create and account "purchase" all of the leadership class (they are free). Once you are all done you will get a certificate of completion and you will send it to Mr. Brunger. Don't rush through it and please turn in this certificate by the end of April.

Below is North Olmsted performing their fight song. I think is an AWESOME idea! I think this fun project (once shared to ALL of Midview) will be that extra joy everyone can use this time. I will send out details. I will create a click track and me playing trombone to help (don’t worry trombones please participate, I want you playing not me! Message me if there are questions!

Every summer different colleges offer programs for musical enrichment. Baldwin Wallace offer some (not posted yet), as well as Fred J Miller, Music for All/ Bands of America, and many others. These opportunities will be posted here for anyone interested. OHIO State has posted some, already! Please see below:
