Bemis Broadcast
Bemis Broadcast - November 8, 2024
Dear Families,
We’ve had an exciting week here at Bemis Elementary!
We kicked off the week with our "Principals of the Day," who had the opportunity to experience life behind the scenes at Bemis. They started their leadership journey by visiting the central office, where they received official badges and even got to visit Dr. Machesky’s office! Then these young leaders visited our Troy Preschool, where they were able to read to incoming Bemis Bears. They also participated in a furniture collaboration meeting at Schroeder Elementary, taking note on some of the new furniture we will be getting next year. Finally, we were able to show the Schroeder Principal of the Day our new playgrounds, as they gear up for their upgraded playgrounds next year! To top off their day, we even got to go out for a special principal lunch!
I also had an opportunity to enjoy buddy lunches with some of our Kindergarten and 1st grade Fun Run raffles winners, and finally, we ended the week with a crowd favorite—our ice cream and glow stick dance party! These celebrations were a well-deserved treat for our students, and we’re so proud of everyone who participated and helped make this year’s Fun Run such a success.
Next week, we invite our first-grade families to join us for their informances in our vocal music classes. We can’t wait for you to see all the amazing learning and creativity your children bring to their music classes!
Just a reminder, our next PTO meeting will be held next Friday. Dr. Machesky will be joining us to share Fall updates and answer any questions. We look forward to seeing many of you there!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership in making Bemis such a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow.

Classroom Spotlight
We're thrilled to shine a spotlight on our incredible students who have been hard at work in the Makerspace in Media! These young innovators have shown exceptional creativity, perseverance, and collaboration while working on exciting hands-on projects that push the boundaries of design, engineering, and technology. Our Makerspace learners are creative problem-solvers, collaborative team players, resilient and adaptable and are becoming future ready thinkers. Makerspace learners have shown what’s possible when imagination meets hands-on learning. We’re incredibly proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see where their creativity takes them next!

Carpool Reminders
As the weather starts to cool, we have noticed an increase of families dropping off and picking up their students in carpool. If we follow our traffic procedure, model patience and respect, we can ensure a safe, smooth arrival and dismissal! Just a few reminders to help the process run smoothly:
- Please pull all the way forward in the drop off and pick up loop.
- All adults should always remain in their vehicles in the drop-off and dismissal loops.
- Students should only exit or enter vehicles on the passenger side. They should be ready to exit when it is their turn.
- If your child needs a little more time or assistance exiting the vehicle, kindly pull into a parking spot and once your child is ready, walk them to the school entrance.
Again, if we can adhere to these procedures, we can ensure a safe, smooth process for our students!

Science Olympiad for Grades 3 - 5
Does your child love science?
If yes, please consider joining the Bemis Science Olympiad Club.
Joining the Bemis Science Olympiad Club is the best way to further your child's interests in science subjects such as electricity, astronomy, and physics. Get them to participate in a fun, engaging, and educational way with the Bemis Science Olympiad.
We’re looking for interested students for the Science Olympiad Club from 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. Bemis will have three 16 student teams, one for each grade. Each student will take part in 2-3 events with 1-2 teammates.
The Club’s successful operation is dependent on parents signing up for coaching and volunteering positions. The season will run from January to June and will require about 1-2 hours of commitment per week for each parent and about 2-3 hours of commitment per week for each student. The tournament is on June 7th, 2025.
If interested, please fill out this form by December 6 so we can send out further information. We will be holding a Zoom kickoff meeting in January (exact date TBD) to discuss what the season will look like this year.
