Summer Updates
First Day of School
Kindergarten Split Dates
I hope you are all enjoying a restful and enjoyable summer break. As we gear up for the new school year, I wanted to update you on the preparations underway to ensure a smooth and successful start. Our dedicated custodial staff is thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing the entire building, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our students and staff. We are also in the process of receiving and organizing new supplies and materials to support our academic programs. Additionally, our school teams are busy planning exciting events and activities that will enhance the educational experience and foster a strong sense of community. We are eagerly looking forward to welcoming our students back and are confident that this year will be filled with growth, learning, and memorable experiences. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Warm regards,
Gregg Johnson
Principal

Car Tags
You will receive a car tag at the Meet the Teacher event, regardless of whether your student will ride a bus to school or be picked up in the car rider line. It is important to keep your car tag on hand as you may need to pick up your child at some point during the year. Car tags help to ensure that we dismiss students from school in a safe and efficient manner.
Morning Carline
- It is single file carline.
- Please pull all the way up until the end of the sidewalk.
- Do not pass other cars.
Afternoon Carline
- It is a double lane.
- The second lane furthest from the building no one can park in until 3:15pm.
- Please do not wave for your kids to cross the lanes. A staff member will either cross the student to the car or tell the student when it is safe to cross.
Afternoon Walkers
- You will need your tag.
- A staff member will call your child's number and they will come out to you.
- They will exit out of the door next to the cafeteria on the side of the building.
- Once you have child/children please exit the walker dismissal area. This is a very busy area and we need to keep it clear.
Afternoon Independent Walkers
- You will need to fill out an independent walker form. (Even if you filled one out last year)
- You back pick up these forms in the office.
- You can also pick up the form on Meet the Teacher Night.
- Independent Walkers will be dismissed after the traditional walkers are dismissed.
Transportation
- Red Clay’s Office of Transportation Services will send a communication closer to the start of school with your student’s transportation information.
Nutrition
- All students at Richey Elementary are eligible for free breakfast and lunch. Please see the attachment at the bottom.
Chromebooks
- Students in kindergarten- 3rd Grade will keep Chromebooks at school, while students in 4th and 5th will take theirs to and from home each day. 4th and 5th grade will need to pay a 20 dollar insurance fee.
- Please like our Facebook Page "Richey Elementary School"
- A link will be at the bottom of this newsletter.
- We have done some summer spotlights of our staff and what they have been up to this summer.
We are super excited to kick off the 2023-2024 school year. We can't wait to see you on August 22nd for Meet the Teacher Night.
