The Spartan - 10/06
Strafford School Community Newsletter
October 6, 2024
Good evening, Spartans!
What another fantastic week at Strafford School. This week, we are excited to welcome our Fire Department for Fire Safety Week for our K-4 classes.
We also want to take this time to express thank you to our community to rallied to support our school in the wake of a challenging morning last Thursday. Seeing families, students and staff work together to prioritize our student and staff well being is so appreciated. We also want to express our utmost appreciation to all Law Enforcement officers who helped create a feeling of calm with their presence on campus for the remainder of the school day.
We are proud to be Spartans!

Acadiance Reports
For K-4 families, Acadiance reports have been uploaded into your child's Alma "File Cabinet". As shared with you all, Acadiance is a measurement we use to assess your child's literacy skills based on their grade level. If you have any questions regarding the contents of your child's report, please don't hesitate to reach out to their teacher. Additionally, we will have an info session on these reports this coming Wednesday from 8-8:30 at the school, called Donuts & Data (RSVP Here). A video will be sent home as well at a later date summarizing this report, including how to read it and how to support your child's literacy skills!

Parent/Guardian support related to Social Media: A Child Predator's Playground is a program from NH Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
This task Force is dedicated to helping parents and guardians navigate the difficult world of social media which is bombarding all of our children. Whether your children are already active in social media, just getting started, or even haven't yet begun, this information is important to know as the experts suggest starting these conversations while your children are young to help ensure they are better prepared to avoid the many pitfalls of social media. There is an upcoming presentation at 6 p.m. on Oct. 10, 2024 at Winnisquam Regional Middle School, 76 Winter St. in Tilton. If you can't travel to this event, you can also listen to a recorded session by visiting https://www.edgerety.com/social-media-a-child-predators-playground/. In addition to the podcast, the site provides a list of key takeaways that are quite helpful for people trying to tackle this issue.
