Cracking Christmas Fair

It was really wonderful to see the fabulous support for our Christmas Fair. The goats were very popular as was our special visitor, Father Christmas. We really do appreciate the effort from everyone, through donating prizes to the hampers, spending money on the stalls or giving time to help the fair run smoothly. A huge thank you to the all the friends, particularly Sherrie, who did a fantastic job at pulling the fair together.

Well done to all our hamper winners!

We have sent a message to all winners to ask them to collect their prizes from reception.

Christmas dinner day

The children and staff enjoyed a wonderful Christmas dinner! It was lovely to see the variety of Christmas jumpers and accessories that helped to make the occasion very festive. The dinner as always was really delicious and the children enjoyed singing along to Christmas songs as they tucked into the special feast!

A big thank you to the midday supervisors and kitchen staff who all did a fantastic job.

Super sewing in Year 4

Year 4 have thoroughly enjoyed designing, making and evaluating their present bags. They created a design criteria for one of our users, Maggie, Little Billy or James. They had to think about the likes and dislikes of the users as well as what the present is and any safety issues. They made templates to check for size and have explored different decoration and joining stitches ready for the making process. Children were given a £2 budget for their materials and enjoyed attending our 'class shop'. Throughout the whole project, they all showed an enormous amount of determination and positivity. I'm sure you will agree that their bags are fantastic - each one unique. They are very proud of themselves and cannot wait to take their bags home to test them out properly. Well done, Year 4!

Advent Reflections

Spiritual Council have worked on setting up an advent trail in the chapel to hep children reflect on this special time of the year. Children have really enjoyed using the space and have thought about the words that they would use to describe a king, prayers they would lay at the manger and how angels can be portrayed.

Celebration worships

We have two special worships planned next week.

Wednesday 14th December at 9am we will have a worship for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
Thursday 15th December at 9am we will have worship for Years 3 - 6.

At each worship we will be sharing some of the work that classes have completed and announcing our superstars of the term. Each worship is expected to last between 25 - 30 minutes and parents are more than welcome to attend.

Super dancing

Sophie always loves going to her ballet lessons, she tries so hard in them and puts in 100% effort during every session. Sophie received her beautiful medal from her ballet studio in Ripon. Sophie had to memorise and recite a ballet performance full of tricks that she had been learning over the period of her lessons, and she got second place for this performance! Well done Sophie, very well deserved.

What gift would you give this Christmas?

This week we asked the children what would be a great gift for Christmas. They came up with some really thoughtful answers that show that Christmas is not all about expensive presents under a tree!

Love and spending lots of time with our families - Year 1

Family is the most important and we need to think about how we can help those who don't have families - Year 5

We could give items that will be a blessing for the homeless - Year 5

Love having time with our families on Christmas Day - Year 3

We could give our toys to others, children who might have no toys - Reception

We can give emotional support and friendship to other - Year 6

Stars of the Week

Every Friday we share who is star of the week in each class in our Celebration Worship.

Nursery

Malachi for perseverance with his balancing skills.

Reception

Beatrix for enthusiastically challenging herself in all areas of the classroom, particularly her writing.

Year 1

Levi for enthusiasm and determination with sculpture in art.

Year 2

Hugo for really trying his hardest to make sure he reads his nativity lines loud and clear!

Year 3

Paige for being such a kind, helpful and considerate partner, explaining and helping patiently on team activities.

Year 4

Harry for having a positive growth mindset in Design Technology. Harry overcame obstacles and used his experience to encourage others.

Year 5

Mabel for her increased independence and positive contributions in class. She is growing in confidence and is always willing to share her ideas.

Year 6

Indie for making a huge effort to improve her handwriting and maintaining a neat style. In English this week she has also worked hard to include correct speech punctuation.

School Update

Scarlet Fever and Strep A Infections

You should have received a communication via email from The UK Health Security Agency Yorkshire & Humber Health Protection Team that outlines the risks and what to do if you have any concerns with regards strep A and Scarlet Fever Infections. If you have not received the email please do let us know.

Key Stage 1 Nativity

Next week on Friday 16th December, the children in Year 1 and Year 2 will be presenting their Nativity at 10am in the Cathedral. We do hope you are able to join us for this special event which will last approximately 30 minutes.

Christmas Parties

Christmas parties will be on the following days:

Tuesday 13th December (pm) Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2
Thursday 15th December (pm) Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6

The school will provide children with a snack and a drink at the party. Children may bring party clothes to change into at lunchtime for their parties.

Cold Weather

It is very chilly at the moment. Please do sent children with suitable winter coats, gloves and hats to help keep them warm when outside.

End of Term

Just a reminder that the school will break up for Christmas at 3.30pm on Friday 16th December 2022. School will reopen for children on Wednesday 4th January 2023.
