The Champion
A weekly newsletter for Chukker Creek Elementary Families
A Leader in Me, Title I School
August 5 - 9, 2024
We would like to thank all parents who came and participated in Champion Expectations Night at Chukker Creek. We appreciate your time and look forward to working with you this year to ensure students success.
Please plan to come to Perry Park for our Family Literacy Event on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. We will have fun, games, giveaways, and prizes for our families!
This year, our school improvement efforts center around improving our students' academic performance in reading, writing, and math. We will also focus on planning collaboratively and using our data to inform instruction.
What can students do who have NO homework or say they are BORED???? See below.
Our school is participating in iReady in 5K - - 5th grades. Students may work in iReady at home in reading or math! Students have been given passwords. The teachers will make sure that you get them as well.
Kindergarten through fifth grade students are also encouraged to do Dream Box at home. They are required to complete 5 lessons per week in class. This provides practice with solving math problems. Students can log on using clever.
We would like for each of our students to read for a minimum of 20 minutes each night to improve oral reading fluency and reading comprehension. We can provide you with with a list of reading strategies and leveled comprehension questions. Please reach out to your students' teachers if you would like for us to provide you with literacy resources.
In addition to our school's Leader in Me initiative, we have developed 5 schoolwide rules for our students. They are:
1. Respect the rights, feelings, and property of others.
2. Walk, save your running for the playground.
3. Use an appropriate tone of voice.
4. Follow all directions given by school personnel, the first time.
5. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.
Our students will have the opportunity to earn points and Champion Bucks for meeting and/or exceeding academic and behavioral expectations. Students will be able to trade their points and Champion Bucks for REWARDS! We know they will be excited about that!
Please help us by reviewing the school wide rules with your students and encouraging them to work hard to meet our schoolwide academic and behavioral expectations.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Evans
Students are required to complete 45 minutes of iReady Reading & Math weekly.
iReady must be completed with 80% accuracy.
Students who meet their weekly goals are invited to our monthly CBIS event!

"Hello Chukker Creek! My name is Bethany Cline and I am honored to be the PTO President for the upcoming school year! Next year, I will have a fourth grader and kindergartener at Chukker Creek. As a former elementary school teacher of Aiken County Public Schools, I know the value that a wonderful PTO can bring to the school, as well as the community. One thing is true, we are only as successful as the team we surround ourselves with; I would love your help to join our team as parent volunteers! Be on the lookout for more information coming soon. I am excited for the opportunity to showcase Chukker Creek and to make it a wonderful year for faculty, staff, parents, and students!"

After 7:35, faculty and staff will report to their classes inside the building, and parents will be asked to sign in students in the front office.
- Please do not pass cars or move traffic cones.
- Please do not open the gate.
- Children may only exit their vehicle when your vehicle is in the “Loading Zone” (between the 2 yellow cones).
- If you must park, do so as soon as possible after exiting the loop.
- For the safety of all of our students, we ask that you ONLY use the car rider line to drop off students. Students may not be dropped off in the back of the building.

- Car line begins at 2:30
- We use the app, "Driveline", to let students know when their ride has arrived.
- Your "Driveline Number" should be displayed and visible in your car.

- Bus riders will be escorted by staff to the bus lot. Online transportation registration and approval is required before a student can ride the bus.
