Keystone Newsletter #34

Dear Keystone Families,
It's almost time to say goodbye to April and hello to May! Here's to a wonderful month ahead filled with endless possibilities, new opportunities, and good health! As we move into May, we are looking forward to seeing our students continue to grow, learn, and thrive!
Last week our learners in grades 3, 4, and 5 took the ELA PSSAs. This week, Tuesday and Wednesday, our learners in grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th will take their mathematics PSSAs (Pennsylvania System of School Assessment) and towards the end of the week our fourth-grader will be taking their Science PSSAs as well. Students, keep up the hard work and dedication throughout the rest of the testing period. Remember to stay focused, take your time, and utilize the strategies and skills you've been practicing in class.
Also remember that you are have strengths, talents, and qualities that go beyond a simple test score. Your worth and abilities cannot be determined by one number, and you all have the potential to achieve great things in life. Remember, you are more than a test score, and your value extends far beyond any standardized measurement.
We had a wonderful turn out for the semi-formal dance that took place this past Friday. Many thanks to our fabulous PTO, parent volunteers, and staff members that attended to make this a fun, organized, and enjoyable event for all!
Friday, is School Lunch Hero Day. Please make sure to express your gratitude to all staff members who assist with our leaners during their lunch time. We appreciate everything that goes into providing food for over hundreds of students each day, the monitoring of our students during this time, as well as the clean up and transitions between all lunches. You are all rock stars!
Be safe and Be Well,
Mrs. Smith-Herman

School Lunch Hero Day- May 3rd
School Lunch Hero Day is a day designated to recognize and honor the hard work and dedication of school staff members who work tirelessly to support our leaners during lunch time.
All cafeteria staff plays a crucial role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, ensuring that every student feels valued and cared for.
On this special day, take a moment to thank all the cafeteria staff for their hard work and dedication. Whether it’s a simple “thank you” or a handmade card, every gesture of appreciation goes a long way in showing them that their efforts are noticed and valued.

Dismissal Plans
In order to maintain the safety of all our learners, we are asking that families alert teachers, in writing, for any transportation/dismissal plan changes prior to 9am each morning.
We do understand that emergencies may arise throughout the day that requires a change to a child's dismissal plan for that particular day. For those situations, please make sure you are alerting the office staff as soon as possible, so they can communicate the change to the teachers as soon as possible.
We thank you for your support in helping us ensure the safety and wellbeing of each of our learners.
Snack and Birthday Celebration Policy
To ensure the safety and well being of our students, as per the District Wellness Policy, no outside foods may be brought in by students for classroom parties or birthday celebrations. Shared snacks are not permitted in district schools.
If you would like to send something in to celebrate your child's birthday or for a classroom party, you may send in non food items such as stickers, pencils, play dough etc.
Keystone's Fabulous Counselors, Social Worker, and Anti-Bullying Specialist
Title 1 Teachers
Mrs. Stacy Cooke

Mrs. Aimee Ramos
aimee.ramos@bristoltwpsd.org
What is Title I?
Title I is a project funded by the federal government under the Every Child Succeeds Act. The purpose of this Act is to provide all children with fair and equitable opportunity to succeed and close achievement gaps. Money is allocated by the federal government and distributed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to the Bristol Township School. District.
Title I funding is based on a complex formula. These funds are allocated to the states who in turn allocate a portion of that money to the individual school districts within each state. The school district’s share is based on the economic need within a school area, that is, by the number of low income families living there. In our district the number of free and reduced lunch students is used to determine the economic need of a particular school.
