Bennett Elementary School achieves Level 2 certification in Marzano High Reliability Schools
Bennett Elementary School is pleased to announce the achievement of Level 2 certification in Marzano High Reliability SchoolsTM. Level 2 certification means Bennett Elementary School has established “Effective Teaching in Every Classroom,” which focuses on the responsibility of both school leaders and teachers in ensuring high-quality instruction.
The high reliability school (HRS) program was created by Marzano Research to help transform schools into organizations that take proactive steps to ensure student success. Using a research- based five-level hierarchy, along with leading and lagging indicators, educators learn to assess, monitor, and confirm the effectiveness of their schools.
This framework, based on 50 years of educational research, defines five progressive levels of performance that a school must master to become an HRS—where all students learn the content and skills they need for success in college, careers, and beyond.
“As you move through the levels, it represents a complete transformation in how schools are run,” says CEO Robert J. Marzano.
Schools must collect data and validate their performance to climb each level of the hierarchy. Certification is determined by Marzano Research analysts in cooperation with school data teams.
Using the HRS framework and indicators, schools can drive sustained, positive, and significant impacts on student achievement by synthesizing multiple complex initiatives into one harmonious system.

Congratulations to this year's Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Kayla Baker!
In nominating Mrs. Baker, her fellow staff members said, "I love how she strives to build the whole student, building good character, not just building students academically. I love how she showcases the learning in her classroom via Twitter. I’m able to get fun ideas to implement in my own classroom! Her lessons are engaging and I love the real world experiences she brings to her students each day in her lessons. As a co-worker, I love being on the same tactic and vertical teams. She has amazing input and always has such a positive outlook on everything.”
“She does a great job of meeting her students’ needs. She includes ALL students and gears her lessons to include all learning styles. She also does a great job showcasing her students’ learning on Twitter.”
Thank you Mrs. Baker for your heart for our Bennett students!

Winter Illness
We would like to remind all parents of the importance of keeping sick children home. When a child comes to school ill, he/she can spread illness by coughing, touching his/her nose/mouth and then touching objects that other students come in contact with.
Remember that fever is not the only sign of true illness and that fever is usually a late sign of an illness, or an illness that is progressing.
If your child is out sick remember to always send in a note from the Dr or a parent note.
MISD Health policies are in place to help insure a healthy school where students can learn and grow.
Please take a moment to review the exclusions by clicking the following link MISD Exclusions.
