BRAHMA BULL-etin!
April 14th through April 20th, 2024
"We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty." - Maya Angelou (Submitted by Emerald Torres, 10th)
My fellow Brahmanians! Lend me your ears, I come to praise our Brahma Nation! 🐮
We had another great week here at The Ranch. The days were filled with many celebrations and accomplishments. It is always a wonderful feeling to see students find their happiness in their hard work. Celebration and accomplishment don't always equate to wins and losses but it does add to the lesson learned that our students will use to be better tomorrow than they were today. I am very proud of them all.
Every April we celebrate military children and the sacrifices they make. Let's all wear purple on Monday, April 15th in their honor.
Let Fiesta begin! Friday, April 26th is a Student/Staff Holiday in observance of Battle of the Flowers. For those of you new to San Antonio, Battle of the Flowers and more importantly all of Fiesta is a Central Texas Mardi Gras style celebration that takes over our city for a few days. Day one is this Thursday, April 18th. For more information, check out https://fiestasanantonio.org/.
End of Course Exams
This week we continue with week two of TESTING SEASON.
- Freshmen will take the Biology End-Of-Course Exam on Tuesday. Students need to pass this exam; it is a graduation requirement. It is imperative that students take the exam serious. Please remind your children to get to school on time. Testing room assignments are posted in the 5 Star Building as well as the cafeteria.
- Juniors will take the US History End-Of-Course Exam on Thursday. Students need to pass this exam; it is a graduation requirement. It is imperative that students take the exam serious. Please remind your children to get to school on time. Testing room assignments are posted in the cafeteria.
- Students, we know you will do your best and use the strategies and knowledge you have learned. We wish you the best of luck!
Important Repeated Information:
Dress Code
As the weather warms up, students can blur the lines with dress code. Students can be strategic and avoid school administration in hopes of not being caught. Knowing this, we have added a level to the referral system that teachers will be completing when students are out of dress code. All students KNOW the expectation of dress, please remind your children to follow it.
Closed Campus
I have shared this information many times and recently we had to become much more strict with our consequences for violators, but all NEISD schools are closed campuses for lunch. Mac does not give permission to any student to leave campus. Students who leave campus are truant. Students who are caught leaving campus are subject to being searched and discipline consequences; including and not limited to Saturday school and social detention (no after school events). Remind your children that the action of leaving campus can have an adverse reaction.
Prom
Seniors, the 2024 Prom is approaching, tickets are on sale. Ticket sales will increase an additional $5 this week. If you haven't bought your tickets yet, do so before prices go up again. The prom is scheduled for Saturday, April 27th. That is three weeks away. Check the flyer below for more details. Please make sure you are making good decisions and you don't jeopardize your opportunity to attend. Also, please make sure you have taken care of any outstanding obligations. If you are bringing a guest that is not a Mac student, make sure you pick up the Guest Form from the Principal's Office. That form needs to be completed by the visiting student's school. Everyone will have to show ID to get into the Prom.
Students, make the best decisions daily. 😁
Have a great week!

🐮 Parent Info 🤘🏽
Do you know someone who isn't receiving these newsletters? Does someone ask you to forward the newsletter weekly?
In the event of an emergency, it’s crucial that your contact information is up to date in Skyward, so you are receiving pertinent, timely updates from NEISD.
Parents, please take a moment to double check your contact information. If you need to update your email address, emergency contacts or phone number, you can easily do so by logging into Skyward Family Access (neisd.net/skyward).
It may also be possible that you inadvertently unsubscribed from text or email communication from the District. If you believe that’s the case, you can log into your account to double check. When setting up your account, you have the option to select a language preference, such as English or Spanish. To update the language you receive messages in or if you have any other problems updating your contact information, please contact the Data Processor on your child’s campus.
In the event of an incident or emergency on District property, NEISD will communicate with you through several avenues, including email, text message, phone calls, social media and neisd.net.
Phone numbers and email addresses for messaging are pulled directly from Skyward. It is vital that this information is accurate and updated as soon as possible.
It takes all of us to be #NEISDsafe.
Remember, the North East Tip Line (neisd.net/tipline) gives you a safe and confidential way to report a wide variety of safety concerns.
You can also call the North East Police Department non-emergency line at 210-407-0925.

Event & Photo Disclaimer
As I said last year, we are more than open to having families send us pictures that they take. We will try and get some in. We can't make the newsletter all about one sport or one person, but will do our best to share what we are given.
Also, we share the information; scores, highlights, etc, that we are given. If we do not receive any, then we cannot share. Some of our teams have worked with their coaching staffs to create channels that can provide that information. That makes it great. We share that when we get it.
We are trying to make the newsletter as informative as possible. We will continue to do our best. Share when you can! We appreciate your partnership. Thanks.

NEISD Online Ticketing Platform Change
The system that NEISD uses for our online athletic ticket sales is changing a bit, and the old app will be going away. Next week on February 28th the original Ticket Spicket App will be decommissioned. Hometown Ticketing has merged with Ticket Spicket, so this is part of the conversion. If you are an avid NEISD athletics supporter and regularly attend events, please make sure to download the "HomeTown Fan App" on iOS or Android.
You can also visit www.events.hometownticketing.com to search, purchase and manage all of your tickets and passes. There are helpful links and attachments to walk through the process.
As always, thank you for always supporting our athletes, coaches and the overall athletic program.
