SCHEDULING CONFERENCES THROUGH PARENTVUE
Scheduling of conferences in ParentVUE opened November 7th for all parents/guardians.
For some people who attempted to schedule through the phone app a glitch was identified where they could only schedule conferences with our special area teachers and Dr. Tara Parr. Our student information system is helping us to make the corrections. In the meantime, please see below for important information on how to schedule your conference:
- If you click on the class with Dr. Parr's name listed, you should then see the name of your child’s teacher and can schedule your conference.
- The conferences for the special area teachers have been removed. If you would like to meet with one or more of the special area teachers on conference days, please email them directly to schedule a time.
- We have also learned that there may be issues when using the ParentVUE app to schedule. Please use a computer/laptop if possible.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
Parent/teacher conferences will be held Monday, November 20th, and Tuesday, November 21st.
Parents/guardians will schedule using the conference module in the ParentVUE portal beginning on Tuesday, November 7th. View Instructions for how to schedule a conference are located here for assistance.
If you do not have a ParentVUE account, you will need to create one in order to access the conference scheduling module. To set up your account, please contact the helpdesk@pvsd.org
If possible, please sign-up for conferences using a computer rather than a cell phone.
Mini Autumn Book Fair for Parents/Guardians Only
The book fair will be held in the library during the following times on conference days:
Monday, November 20th - 7:30 AM - 7 PM
Tuesday, November 21st - 7:30 AM - 1 PM
Thank you for being so supportive of this mini-book fair. We hope that offering it now gives you a great chance to shop for holiday gifts for the whole family.
Students are NOT scheduled to visit this book fair during school days. Students WILL be scheduled to visit our huge in-school Spring book fair.
Special Area Spotlight
We will spotlight a special area class to share the amazing things that are happening in Art, Explorations, Library, Music, P.E., and Wellness classes.
What are students exploring in Music class with Mrs. Joy?
Kindergarten is exploring speed by singing and moving.
First grade learned a new racing game, A Tisket a Tasket, as well as exploring notation techniques using pictures.
Second grade learned a lullaby and can accompany themselves on classroom instruments.
Third grade students made their own rhythm flash cards, partnered up, and made rhythm sentences.
Fourth grade is using boomwhackers, colorful tube instruments, to learn about the major scale.
Finally, fifth grade is working hard to get ready for their winter concert.
K-2 STAR Early Literacy Assessments by Renaissance
The STAR Early Literacy Assessments by Renaissance, STAR Reading and STAR Math, are comprehensive literacy and math universal screeners that are computer adaptive. These assessments will provide teachers with current, reliable and valid data quickly so they can target instruction, monitor progress, provide students with instructional materials, and intervene and enrich where needed. Assessments will occur 2-3 times during the school year for students in grades K-2 in both reading and math. The first assessment will be completed for the K-2 students by November 15, 2023. Student reports will be provided to families at a later date.
Follow this link to access the email sent by Dr. Amy Sacks, Data Quality & Assessment Administrator, regarding the STAR Early Literacy Assessment.
School Safety Drills
Ensuring the safety for our students, staff, and visitors is a top priority.
It is important that students learn how to be safe. During November we continue to review and practice our drills. This month we will have a fire drill as well as practice a lockdown drill and visit our rally points. Student friendly and age-appropriate language is used when reviewing our drills and reflecting upon them when they conclude.
