Blue Valley Northwest
Principal's Newsletter - November 22, 2024
Dear Husky Families,
As we enter this season of thankfulness, I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude for our incredible staff, students, and families. BVNW is more than just a school—it's a community where support, kindness, and a shared commitment to excellence shine every day.
Your contributions make our Husky community special. Whether through your encouragement, hard work, or the simple gestures that build our positive culture, I am continually inspired by the warmth and strength of this community.
As we prepare for the upcoming Thanksgiving break, I hope you find time to relax, recharge, and connect with those important to you.
Wishing you a safe, joyful, and meaningful break.
Go Huskies!
Sincerely,
Leah Vomhof
BVNW Principal

Athletics/Activites:
Message From the AD
Congrats to our football team on a great season and playoff run!
It is a busy time at BVNW as our winter sports are off and running! It is great to see all our gyms, the pool, and wrestling room full of student athletes. All of us at BVNW are excited to see our winter athletes compete this upcoming season. We tried something new at BVNW this year for winter sports as we hosted two days of “Media Day” for our athletes. We can’t wait to share the results of that with you all! Be sure to follow our social media accounts! Lastly, we feel that we observed positive strides in our school spirit. We anxiously await to see our students continue to show up for each other!
We have an opportunity for that as we will be celebrating all our winter athletes at the Jamboree on 12/2 that begins at 5:00 with our Varsity Girls in the main gym! Come help kick off our winter sports!
Bowling:
Tryouts are December 9-12 (boys and girls are split). In order to try out you MUST have a physical on file.
Contact Coach Derks with any questions!

Congratulations to Husky Debate on hosting a HUGE debate tournament last weekend! Thank you to all of the community members who volunteered to judge and were patient when the national tab room went down.
Shout out to the cast and crew on an incredibly successful run of Mama Mia! This was one of our largest casts yet, and our audience was packed for every single show!
Good luck to Cheer and Dance this weekend as they compete at state in Topeka!
Congratulations to our DECA program! They’ve competed twice this season and had many top finishers.

Attendance Matters: The Importance of Timely Attendance
In high school, the pace of learning picks up, and missing even a single class can make catching up more difficult. Arriving on time and being present for each class helps students keep up with the instruction, ensuring they don’t fall behind. Missing the start of a class can disrupt the flow of learning and prevent students from fully understanding the material.
Encourage your high schooler to make timely attendance a priority. Being present from the start of class to the end gives them the best chance to excel.
