Mrs. Oko's tenure as vice principal at our school will come to a close at the end of June 2024. We are immensely grateful for Mrs. Oko's presence throughout this school year. As she moves forward, we extend our heartfelt prayers for God's guidance and blessings upon her journey, and we wholeheartedly wish her success and fulfillment in all her future endeavors. David Griffin, our incoming vice principal for the 2024-25 school year has made the decision to move to the Edmonton area to pursue other opportunities in education. We are thankful to Dave for his service at ÉOLR and Red Deer Catholic Schools. We pray for God's continued blessings on Dave, and his family. We will provide further details regarding our vice-principal position for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year in the coming weeks.

With the weather warming up, and more students riding bikes or scooters to school, here are some friendly reminders: Please walk your bike or scooter once you're on school property. Don't forget to bring a lock, as we cannot store bikes and scooters inside due to space constraints. Leaving them unattended and unlocked is at your own risk.

With the recent decrease in air quality due to the forest fires, we want to share with you the guidelines we are following when making decisions about student safety. We are utilising the Air Quality Health Index as a guide. Health Canada recommends that if the AQHII is above “7”, outdoor activities must be moved inside and strenuous activities such as games/practices should be cancelled.

We strive to ensure a safe environment for all our students and will err on the side of caution when making decisions around air quality. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

With the beautiful spring weather, we have noticed that some families are embracing the opportunity to walk their pets to and from school. As we strive to maintain a safe environment for all our students, we kindly ask for your cooperation regarding pets on school grounds during drop-off and pick-up times.

While we understand the joy and companionship pets bring to families, we must prioritize the safety of our children. If you choose to bring your pets, please ensure they are kept under your control on a leash and are off the playground behind the fence. Additionally, we kindly request that you discourage children from petting the animals, as this presents a liability concern for the pet owner. Your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines will greatly contribute to the well-being of our students. Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our school community safe.

Students are kindly reminded not to bring toys to school, as they can cause distractions, and we aim to prevent any loss or damage to belongings.

Registration is now open for the 2024-25 school year. Please click below to view the Parent User Guide, and register. A reminder, if you currently have a child attending Pre-Kindergarten at ÉOLRS, you must still submit a registration form for Kindergarten.

We only have one more School Council meeting left for this school year. How did that happen?! Please feel free to join us for our last meeting. There will be a very short formal agenda but it will be a great time to meet Council members and ask any questions you might have about joining us next year.

We are also planning a planning meeting for the 2024-2025 upcoming school year. If you would like to come help us shape our next year's goals, events, and plans we would love to have your ideas and input. The date is TBD. HOT LUNCH:

A massive shout-out and thank-you to our Hot Lunch Committee and volunteers! Thank-you so very much for keeping our kids fed and happy this year. We have a phenomenal hot lunch program and it's because of the countless hours and commitment that our volunteers contribute. So, thank-you very much!

Silent Auction!

There have been some very special items held back for another silent auction! Several of our classes participated in a class art project and they are up for auction beginning May 14. Our annual yard sale at Our Lady of the Assumption school will be held Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sept. 5,6,7, 2024. If you have items to donate please call Marie Jensen at 403-887-2245 or Lorraine Martinek at 403-340-6720.

If your child is in kindergarten and has not received their preschool immunization after the age of four, they are due now. Immunizations provided for the preschool booster consists of the fifth dose of Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Polio, and a second dose of Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine.
