WE NEED YOU! We will be voting for new board members at this meeting. Your opinion and input matters! Please join us.

Incase you didnt know, we have over 70 PTO members. You may be surprised but only 5-6 of us are at these meetings. 4 of our active members are moving on to highschool. Without a board there can't be a JMS PTO.

Don't let this amazing and valuable group fail. The few of us that have kept it going can tell you that it has been a labor of love. It's not as time consuming as you might think. A little goes a long way.

Nomination forms have been sent out and we still need a Secretary and Treasurer nomination. You can nominate yourself for multiple positions.

6th and 7th grade- All students will attend but not all students will receive an award. Parents/Guardians will receive an invite if their student is receiving an award.

8th grade- This is the 8th grade promotion ceremony and awards. All students will receive a certificate of completion. We would love for the students to dress nice for this event. All parents/guardians are invited.

More information will be shared in May.

Cell phones must be turned off and out of sight during the instructional day. Students may use their cell phones before/after school and during their assigned lunch time. Violation of the cell phone rules during school hours will result in the phones being confiscated. Confiscated cell phones must be picked up at the end of the school day. NO wireless earbuds are allowed during the instructional day. Corded headphones/earbuds may be used when connected to school issued chromebooks.

Jarrell ISD now has a mobile app. The app is a centralized platform for students, parents, teachers, and the community to stay connected and informed with real-time announcements and important notifications. The app is available to download in the Apple App Store and Google Play. Search "Jarrell ISD" to download the app and join the digital hub of your child's campus and district information.

• What is Schoolmint Hero? Hero is student behavior management software for K-12 schools and districts, from Schoolmint. Hero's goal is to enable consistent redirection of negative behavior, reinforcement of positive behavior and communication between educators, students, parents, and administrators across classrooms school and district-wide.

School attendance is vital to the present and future educational success of your child. Regular school attendance is essential for a student to make the most of his/her education.

TEXAS COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE LAW

Under Section 25.085(2) applies to students who are at least six years old as of September 1st of the applicable school year. The law requires a student to attend public school until the student’s 19th birthday. Students enrolled in prekindergarten or kindergarten are required to attend school and are subject to the compulsory attendance requirements as long as they remain enrolled. (Section 25.085(c).

When a student is absent, the student must bring a note to the attendance office within three days of the absence. After three days, parent notes may not be accepted and the absences will be considered unexcused. A maximum of three (3) parent notes per semester will be accepted as excused.

As of Monday, November 13th transportation started submitting bus referrals for students that don't use their smart-tag. Several students received bus referrals last week.

General Visitors Parents and others are welcome to visit district schools. For the safety of those within the school and to avoid disruption of instructional time, all visitors must first report to the main office and comply with all applicable district policies and procedures. All visitors should be prepared to show identification. Individuals may visit classrooms or observe virtual instruction during instructional time only with approval of the principal and teacher. Visitors may not interfere with instruction or disrupt the normal school environment. All visitors are expected to demonstrate the highest standards of courtesy and conduct. Disruptive behavior or violations of student privacy will not be permitted.

Lunch Update 5/6/24

Our cafeteria courtyard construction project is finally completed. Parents/Guardians listed as approved contacts are now allowed to join their students for lunch in the courtyard area only.
