Mission Statement
St. John Lutheran School exists to nurture children in faith and intellect, equipping them for Christian lives of service.
"Be kind and compassionate to one another,
forgiving each other, just as God in Christ has forgiven us."
Ephesians 4:32
Palm Sunday
All School Sing and Workship Day
Following the worship service we have a Workship Day. This is a great opportunity to earn PPP Hours. We will have indoor and outdoor work teams, and a pizza lunch will be provided.
Last Wednesday Lent Worship
Jesus' Words from the Cross
Today we welcome Pastor Bramdeo Ramgolam from Lord and Savior in Crystal Lake.
We thank our students in Grades 3-8 for singing in our 3:30 service and our 5th & 6th Grade Recorder choir for our offering and post service music.
Join us Wednesdays at 3:30pm or 6:30pm. We have supper between our services.
Families - children and adults - are encouraged (all children need to be supervised) to worship together and to join us for the "Lent Supper" that immediately follows the 3:30pm service in our Fellowship Hall.
Note: After-school care will still be in session for those who need it. If E.S.S. is outside you can go to the preschool playground to pick-up. If E.S.S. is inside please come in through the front doors and head downstairs to the Prek4 classroom to pick-up.

Guide kids on the ultimate Alaskan adventure where northern lights glow over majestic mountains, racing rivers, and glistening glaciers. As kids trek the tundra, they’ll explore how easy it is to lose sight of what’s true in our wild world today. Pointing them toward Jesus, True North VBS shows them that he is a faithful friend we can always trust. He’s our True North!

Call Update
The call that we had issued to Nate Dittrich, to be our teacher for grades 7-8, was returned. That means that he will continue to serve at his current school, Immanuel, in LaCrosse and will not be coming to St. John this summer. Here is his written response:
Dear Members of St. John and Immanuel,
Over the last several days I have been in prayer and conversations with leaders, teachers, and lay members of both congregations. After the conversations, prayers, evaluation of gifts and talents, and seeking out the Lord’s guidance, I am returning the call to St. John Lutheran School.
Thank you for the precious time you have given me. Thank you for listening and sharing.Thank you for your valued prayers. I will continue to keep both schools and congregations in my prayers that the message of Jesus’ gospel be shared with all who enter your doors and sphere of outreach. May God bless your efforts and growing ministries.
Your brother in Christ,
Nate Dittrich
St. John's congregation has one more opportunity to call someone who is currently teaching at one of our WELS schools. Our Summer Call Task Force will be reviewing a list of candidates sent to us by our synod office. They will do that on Monday evening, April 14. They will also be submitting a request for a possible graduate from Martin Luther College (our synod's college that trains future pastors and teachers). If the call we issue on April 14 is eventually accepted, then we will be set for next year. If our call is eventually declined, we will then be set for a possible graduate to be assigned to us. Our window for calling from another school closes on April 15, so we will just meet that deadline.
Please keep this calling process in your prayers. We may not know the future, but the Lord has everything in His hands and under His control. We trust that he will provide as He knows is best for us and for his Kingdom.
Holocaust Survivor Presentation
On Tuesday, April 15, we are privileged to welcome Steen Metz, a Holocaust survivor, to speak to our church and school family. He will share his personal story of being imprisoned in a concentration camp and will also answer questions. This is a rare and special opportunity since the number of living survivors grows less and less each year. More information can be found at http://www.steenmetzneverforget.com.
The presentation will take place on Tuesday, April 15, at 3:30 PM in the St. John sanctuary. It will run for about an hour. All school families are invited to attend. Grades 7 & 8 students are invited to attend the presentation under the supervision of Mr. Wintrone. Any other students are welcome to attend with their parents. Younger students can attend ESS for no charge so that parents can attend the presentation. Please fill out this Google Form to let us know if your child will be attending ESS while you attend the presentation.
We hope to see many of you for this special event. Please contact Mr. Wintrone (justin.wintrone@stjohnslib.com) with any questions.
Forensics
We meet after school in Mrs. Gast's classroom. The forensics team will be meeting on Fridays until 4:00 during the Lent season and then switching to Wednesdays once Lent is over.
