A Message From Ms. Laus & Mrs. Walsh
Dear BMES Community,
To reiterate Dr. Da Silva's sentiments from her weekly newsletter, we are thinking of the families and community impacted by the tragedy at Apalachee High School this past Wednesday. Please know that we continue to keep your children's safety as a first priority here at BMES.
We had a fun and eventful second week of school, including welcoming our Preschool students. Ms. Laus has enjoyed visiting classrooms to read to students, and Mrs. Walsh has been hosting morning meeting or closing circle. We enjoy seeing all the time and effort staff and students are putting into behavior expectations and Bobby CARES.
On Friday, at our Whole School Meeting, we focused on the C in CARES for Cooperation. Throughout the month, we will celebrate cooperative behavior across our school community with shout outs for "PAWS"itive behavior. You can see more about how we show cooperation around school below. Ask your child how they have been cooperative at school!
Have a wonderful week ahead!
Warm regards,
Becky & Caitlin

A Message From the School Nurse
Lice. It is definitely one of the most dreaded 4 letter words. There are always cases of head lice reported in the community and in the schools during the year. Unfortunately, we have had our first case of lice in the school. This is an easily treated condition that is generally not associated with any serious medical complications. The letter linked below will acquaint you with the nature of this infestation and what should be done to get rid of it.

Meet the BMES Staff
📸 Bobcat Sightings 📸
We had our first Whole School Meeting on Friday. Our fifth grade students led a greeting and highlighted the C in CARES for cooperative behavior. The meeting also featured the premier of our new school song, "We Are the Bobcats," written by our very own Mrs. McGuirk, and led for the first time by third graders in Mrs. Balogh's class.
Speaking of cooperation, our third graders have been doing an excellent job showing cooperation in the cafeteria at lunch every day.
Our Kindergarten students had their first full days of school this week and that meant their first RECESS! They loved getting to play on the Kindergarten playground, including the tricycles and sandbox!
The Back to School Bash was a huge success, thanks to our PTA! We enjoyed the blow up obstacle courses, entertainment from Bach to Rock, and the Kona Ice truck. And of course, Bobby came to celebrate the start of school. Thank you again, PTA!
Congratulations to fifth grader Eloise Turner, whose summer reading earned her the grand prize from the Ridgefield Public Library...riding the fire truck to school!
