On this Day in History: May 13th
On this day in history...
May 13, 1846, U.S. Congress declared war on Mexico. Also on this day, American singer and songwriter Ritchie Valens, the first latino rock and roll star, was born in Pacoima, California. And sadly, in Pakistan, 80 people were killed from a bomb explosion. --Emma

Senior Spotlight: Levi Robinette
This month’s Senior Spotlight is shining bright on Senior, Levi Robinette. Levi is the son of Anita Hill and he has one older sister. Levi has attended CCA since the 4th grade. What he has liked most about CCA is his fun and creative teachers. After high school Levi plans on going into the workforce to be a General Contract Surveyor.
His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” When asked what CCA teacher has made the biggest impact on his life Levi said it was Mrs. Olson; she always made learning fun and interesting and she taught Levi how to be caring towards others. Levi loves to play soccer, and his favorite sport to watch is football. In his free time he loves to go fishing, hang out with friends, eat bacon wrapped pickles and watch Duck Dynasty. --Audrey

May Character Trait of the month is Self-Control
The character trait for the month of May is Self-Control. It is based on Bible verse Galatians 5:22-23 which says, "But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control."
We asked three students how they would described self-control and here's what they had to say: Oakleigh (1st Grade) responded, “It’s not being mean and not getting mad.” Liam (2nd Grade) said, “It’s like if someone hits you and you don’t hit them back you have self-control.” Tenley (5th Grade) answered, “If something’s hard or upsetting, staying calm and not getting angry is having self-control.” -Vivian

Earth Day 2024
Students in Spanish I and Spanish II picked up trash on Earth Day, which was on April 22. The point of earth day is to advocate for the health of our planet. The very first earth day was celebrated on April 22, 1970. This year's theme was Planet vs. Plastics. Thank you Mrs. Ramirez for encouraging students to recycle, pick up trash and be aware of what plastics are doing to God's creation.
Survey Says:
This week's survey says questions is would you rather have a water balloon fight or play on a slip and slide? This was a close vote with 38 votes for water balloons and slip and slide right behind with 31 votes. Over the summer, 1.6 billion water balloons are used each year. --Carissa
