Mr. Hiti's Message

Seventh and eighth grade students were given the opportunity to sign up for a presentation from a retired geneticist who will be visiting Friendly Hills. The geneticist spent her early career working in the world of rare genetic disorders, transitioned to working in the world of neonatal/prenatal genetic services, and spent the last 2 decades working in cancer genetic services and testing. She will be sharing a presentation with students on medical genetics and principles of inheritance, speak about her career, and answer questions from students. This will be an excellent interactive opportunity for our students.

MCA Testing

Dear Families,

Students will be taking the MCA (Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment) test this April and May. The reading test will be April 16th, 17th, and 18th. The Math test will be April 23rd, 24th, 25th. Please see the attached PDF letter for more details.

Cultural Liaisons & Interpreters

Creative Writing Club

Writers Wanted! Join the FHMS Creative Writing Club on Thursdays after school in the IMC starting on April 11th. This is a free activity for any student interested in stretching your creative writing. Click here or see a flyer in the halls for more info or to sign up. Contact melissa.maas@isd197.org with any questions. The deadline to sign up is April 5th.

Drone Club News

Two members of the 701st Drone Squadron competed in the 2024 Soaring Spring Championship on Velocidrone SIM for new pilots on Monday. Riley ("Puppy Shots") took 2nd place overall. During a bonus race Puppy Shots took 1st. Caleb ("Cosmo") took 3rd overall. Prior to the Championships, they had 6 weeks of instruction. Congrats to our Warrior Pilots!

New pilots are welcome to join us. The Squadron meets Tuesdays after school in Room 139 (PLTW) by the new gym. Practice involves SIM time and flying actual drones. Pilots get to choose their own call signs. You do not need to supply any materials. We practice until 4:30 p.m. and you'll have to get a ride home.
