2nd Grade Weekly Newsletter

The Hound Mart Signup Genius has been UPDATED. If you had signed up for a specific date to volunteer, please re-sign up on the new Signup Genius. The signups did not transfer over with the update. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Tuesdays are 2nd Grade's designated days to have parents come eat lunch with them. Due to 3rd Grade's pop up restaurant, Chez Snoopy, students will have lunch in their classrooms. Thank you for your understanding.

The students will be working on an autobiography project. For this project there are spaces for students to put photographs of themselves.

If you are able please send your child with 5 landscaped 4x6 pictures for them to include in their autobiography. The categories of the pictures are Cover Photo, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, This Year, Other Memory.

Please send with your child ASAP!

We will hold our 2nd grade Valentine’s Party on Friday, February 12th at 1:45 pm. You are welcome to attend; we would love to have you. Students may also decorate a box or bag at home to collect their valentine cards at the party. Please have students bring the box or bag on Thursday or Friday! See below for the number of students in each class:

Mrs. Flohr – 19 students

Mrs. Mulvey – 20 students

Mrs. Reynolds – 21 students

Ms. McNeely – 19 students

Please bring a Valentine for everyone in your child’s class. It isn’t required to bring a Valentine for everyone in 2nd grade. Please have your child address their valentines "to my friend" and sign their name.

You will soon receive an email with a signup genius offering available times to meet with your child's teacher to go over MOY MAP and Language Diagnostic testing. As the signup geniuses are emailed out to parents, they will also be added to the newsletter.

Hedgcoxe is collecting donations for our sister school in Plano ISD.

Items that are needed:

• Winter Coats
• Gloves
• Scarves
• Healthy Snacks

Hedgcoxe's goal is to collect 100 of each item, for a total of 400 donations! If the school is able to meet their goal, every grade level will earn BONUS RECESS!

Yearbooks are now on sale! The Early Bird Special is currently running and yearbooks are $25.00 until February 19th! After February 19th the price will increase to $30.00. Yearbook Order Forms were sent home last week, please be sure to make all checks payable to Hedgcoxe Elementary. NEW THIS YEAR: The deadline to order yearbooks online is April 8th. If we are not sold out, yearbooks will be available for purchase after that date by check or cash only. Yearbooks are already selling so don’t wait, get yours today!

Hedgcoxe is participating in the Six Flags Read to Succeed program. Students can earn a free ticket to Six Flags by completing 6 hours, or 360 minutes, of recreational reading. Be sure to use the reading log to document (sent home last week) time spent reading. A parent letter is also attached that gives more information about the program. Reading logs are due to teachers by February 26th.
