April 2025
Message from School Leadership
Positive Astros Families,
Wowzers! I can NOT believe we are in the fourth quarter of an amazing school year. We have really worked hard this year. We have used GRIT to show passion, purpose, and growth. We have stuck it all together with the Glue of relationships, habits, and positivity! We are so proud of our Positive Astros, and we cannot wait to see how they shine on the FAST assessments. Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) will be starting this month and will continue into May. We have and are steadily preparing for those assessments. Keep in mind that preparing for FAST at home is just as important as preparing for them here at school. Please encourage your child to work hard. We have found the assessments to be long. We do give breaks, but students need to be reminded to work hard for the duration of the assessment. Also, to set them up for success, please ensure they have a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast on the morning of their assessments. In this edition of our monthly newsletter, you’ll find a section all about the FAST. We’ve included FAST Fact Sheets and Family Portal Information. Please review it when you have a moment!
As we prepare for FAST, keep in mind the April Active Calendar! The active calendar is a great way to encourage moving and getting outdoors as much as possible. This is important for our Positive Astros! Being active and moving makes us feel good and perform our best. In addition, this month, the active calendar focuses on boosting our mental well-being! This is just what is needed as we prepare for FAST! Remember, we don't need to run marathons - there are simple things we can all do to take care of our bodies, like unplugging from technology, reconnecting with nature, and getting more sleep! These tips and positive attitudes will help us end the year strong! Good Luck, Positive Astros!

Florida Assessment of Student Thinking
FASTen Your Seatbelts: Florida's Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) is Here! 🌟
This month, our incredible students are stepping into the spotlight to showcase all the amazing things they've learned! Think of it as their academic concert, where they'll be performing their knowledge of grade-level standards. 🎶
We've seen the GRIT (that's Growth, Resilience, Initiative, and Tenacity, for those keeping score at home!) our students have displayed in the classroom. They've been practicing their scales, mastering their harmonies, and now it's time for their solo! 🎤✨
Let's help them hit all the right notes! 🎹
To ensure everyone's in tune, we've compiled some fantastic resources to help you:
- Understand the Score: Get the inside scoop on what FAST is all about.
- FAST Facts: Everything you need to know, in a snappy, easy-to-digest format.
- Reviewing the Performance: Learn how to interpret those scores and celebrate their achievements! 🏆
Let's support our students as they take center stage and show the world what they're made of! We're so proud of their hard work and can't wait to see them shine! 🌟

Staff Appreciation- We DIG YOU!
As Staff Appreciation Week approaches, we are reaching out to our wonderful parent community to ask for your support in making this year’s celebration truly special for our hardworking educators.
Staff Appreciation Week is an important time for us to show our GRATITUDE to the dedicated individuals who nurture, inspire, and educate our children every day. Essentially, they are “BUILDING our students with knowledge and support,” and now is the time to tell them that “WE DIG YOU!”
Please see the attachments for ways to show your support to our staff members during the week of Staff Appreciation!

Community Resources
As your child becomes curious about alcohol and other drugs, he or she may turn to you for answers and advice. The documents below provide some answers to common questions and answers about underage driving and other drugs. Use this document to have an open and honest conversation about drinking and drug use and to establish or reinforce your rules at home.
Fourth Quarter Family Project
We are so excited about the March/April Family Project. Please take a look at the details below. This project has two templates that a student can use! We cannot wait to see these projects in our hallways.
This project is due April 14th!
Lost and Found
Lost something? We might have it!
Our collection of mystery jackets, water bottles, and lonely lunchboxes is growing FAST — and we’re trying to reunite these items with their rightful owners!
We’ll be posting photos of Lost & Found items with numbers — if you recognize something, comment with:
• Your child’s name
• Their homeroom teacher
• The item number
