Mr. Goetz's Corner
Dear Families of Deerfield,
I hope everyone has had a great week. It's hard to believe next week is the end of October and the beginning of Fall Break!
In order to encourage our students to have good behavior at school and to meet the expectations of our SOAR matrix we are sending home a School and Family Agreement. Our teachers have discussed it with their classes this week. Teachers have sent these home for you to review and discuss with your student. Please return the signed agreement to school by Thursday October 31st.
As we approach Halloween, I wanted to remind everyone that we will be having our Halloween parade for students on Thursday, October 31st. This is a HALF DAY of school. The parade will begin at 9:00am. Weather permitting, this will take place outside. Families are more than welcome to attend! Please remember to keep costumes appropriate for school, with no weapons or too scary for our younger students. Masks are allowed as long as they do not limit student vision.
Following the parade, classes will have their classroom Halloween parties. Please see your emails for more information from your student's teacher.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mr. Goetz

Deerfield will be hosting "Coffee with the Superintendent" next week on Tuesday October 29, 2024 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.
This informal gathering will provide an opportunity to discuss topics of interest with Dr. James Schwarz, Avondale's Superintendent. If you would like to attend please bring your ID and sign in at the main office.
PTO Meeting Change
Due to the middle school parent teacher conferences, we need to move the November PTO meeting to Thursday, November 14th at 7:00. We hope to see you there!
PE "Gym Shoes" Reminder
Lately, many students come to PE wearing “Crocs.” These are not appropriate footwear for
PE activities, so here is a reminder...
The most important thing our friends need for PE class are comfortable athletic shoes.
Please make sure your child has athletic shoes that are closed heel and toe with non-
marking soles and that they are comfortable and securely tied. Students who come to PE
class without the proper footwear will have two options, one would be to borrow gym shoes
from Mr. Stabnick and if they do not want to borrow, they will be asked to sit out and not
participate for the day. Crocs, open heel or toe shoes, flip-flops, sandals, dress shoes, and
even boots do not have the proper foot and ankle support needed for most, if not all
activities in PE. I want all students actively participating in PE class as this is a big part of
their grade, so please make sure they have their “gym shoes.” All students are
recommended to wear comfortable clothes on PE days as well.
Art to Remember
Art to Remember order forms will be arriving soon and sent home on Friday, November 8th. Each order form is customized by individual child, with directions on how you can place an order for custom keepsakes with your child's artwork on it. Keep an eye out in their Friday Folder for it! Orders received by Nov. 18th will arrive in time for the winter holidays!

Deerfield at the Farm
If you are looking for something fun to do on a Saturday or Sunday in October, gather your family and friends, and head out to Upland Hills Farm! You can see a magic show, go on a hayride, milk a cow, and more! Bring the flyer below, or mention Deerfield at admissions, and we will receive a portion of the admission money from Deerfield supporters. Any Saturday or Sunday in October that you visit the farm counts toward our fundraising efforts. See the flyer below for more details. Save the Date - Bowling Fun!
Are you looking for something fun to do with your family and friends when there is no school on Tuesday, November 5th? Head to Classic Lanes (located at 2145 Avon Industrial Dr. in Rochester Hills) for some bowling fun! For $10 per person, you get 2 hours of bowling and shoe rental! The bowling timeframe is from 12:00-5:00. We need to be done by 5:00 because they need to prepare for the leagues for that night (see the attached flyer for more details). This is a great opportunity for you to set up a playdate with some of your student's classmates/friends. Looking forward to seeing our Deerfield Falcons on the lanes!
