Tiger Tales
Fishers Elementary Newsletter December 15, 2023
Dear Tiger Families,
I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and involvement in your child's education. Your dedication truly makes a difference in their academic journey.
I am thrilled to announce that we have successfully completed our winter window of NWEA testing. It is through your child's hard work and perseverance that we were able to accomplish this milestone. I couldn't be prouder of their commitment to their education.
Not only did our students complete the testing, but we have also witnessed tremendous growth in both reading and math during the fall semester. Based on our current data, the median percentile in reading is in the 65th percentile, with 55% of our students scoring in the 61st percentile or better. In math, our median percentile is in the 66th percentile, with 57% of our students scoring in the 61st percentile or better. It is a remarkable achievement that showcases their progress and dedication to learning. This growth is a testament to their resilience and the unwavering support they receive from their families.
Now some of you may be wondering why I call attention to the 61st percentile or better. What we know from our data on the NWEA is that students who score at or above the 61st percentile are on track for being at or above proficiency on future standardized assessments. As you receive NWEA data, if you notice that your student falls below those levels, feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher for further ideas on how to support their learning. Here at school, we will be spending time on our teacher work day after winter break digging into this data and coming up with plans for how to best support students who may not currently be on track for proficiency.
I want to extend my admiration and gratitude to you for fostering an environment at home that values and encourages academic success. Your partnership with us plays a vital role in the development of your child's skills and knowledge.
Our teachers have been thinking about ways to recognize the hard work of this past semester. Since next week is the final week of the semester, they will be carrying out their various celebrations during the week next week, culminating with our winter parties that are sponsored by our PTO next Friday.
As we move forward into the upcoming semester, let's continue to work together in supporting your child's educational journey. We are here to assist you in any way we can. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any member of our educational team.
Once again, thank you for your unwavering support and for being an essential part of our school community. We greatly appreciate your dedication and commitment to your child's education.
Warmest regards,
Mr. Behrman
