Happy Holidays
Flippen Families 2024
Dear Families.
I hope you all had a festive Thanksgiving, celebrating with your families and friends. We will be headed again for another break in a couple of weeks, which makes this month short and very busy. We'd like to remind you how essential it is for your scholar to attend school each day and on time. Our attendance has improved from last year, and we aim to reach 85% or more students attending school daily. We can meet and exceed this goal with your support.
Remember, the last day of school before the break is December 20th, and it is a half day.
This month, we continue with diagnostic assessments to measure our students' growth during the first semester. Our Winter MAP data in Reading and Math shows our students are making upward progress. This week, students will take the iReady Diagnostic in Reading and Math. We ask that you ensure your students arrive at school on time.
PTA
Please support Flippen's PTA. We need to increase our school's PTA membership to support the work of the Board. They do a lot for our scholars and teachers and they are asking for each family to join PTA.
The links to join is below along with their Tidal Wave Car Wash sale.
Very Important Georgia School Climate Survey
Georgia School Climate Survey
This survey will be administered to students at Flippen Elementary from December 9th to 13th. It is only for students in grades 3-5.
The Georgia School Climate Survey is an anonymous statewide survey instrument that covers various topics such as school climate and safety, peer and adult social support, bullying, and mental health. It is composed of 27 questions for grades 3-5 and will be administered by the Mental Health and Wellness Facilitator, Brittany Bryan.
This survey also has the option to opt-out if you do not want your students to participate. Please email your student's homeroom teacher if you'd like your child not to take the survey. The homeroom teacher will then send you a form to complete and return. The form is also listed below if you would like to have your student opt-out. When you open the Opt Out form below, you will find a link to the questions on the survey so you can review them before you make your decision.
While we understand you may wish for your child to opt out of the survey, please know that it provides the school, district, and state with valuable information from our students' perspective.

Holiday Parties
Students will celebrate the holiday season with their peers. The teachers will send you their grade level holiday letters indicating the date, and the items needed for the celebration. Please reach out to your child’s teacher for any questions.
In Conclusion,
Flippen is a phenomenal school community. We have outstanding parents, students, and a dedicated staff. Thank you for being so committed to Flippen.
Don’t forget to share the season of giving with your child’s teacher and paraprofessional. The staff works very hard, dedicating long hours to school teaching and learning with our scholars. We genuinely appreciate our staff, students and you.
Thank you.
