A Message From Mrs. O'Brien
Dear Lincoln Early Learning Center Families,
As we move further into the season, it’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving break is just around the corner! We are looking forward to seeing Fremont, Hawthorn, and Tri-District classroom families at our upcoming parent-teacher conferences. These conferences offer a wonderful opportunity to discuss your child’s growth and learning journey, celebrating achievements and setting meaningful goals for the months ahead. We’re proud to ROAR together in partnership with you, supporting each child in reaching their full potential.
With cooler weather upon us, please remember to dress your child in layers each day. Our preschoolers spend time both inside and outside, and layered clothing helps them stay comfortable as temperatures change throughout the day. We appreciate your help in ensuring they’re cozy, prepared, and ready to enjoy every activity.
Thank you for all you do to support our school community. Together, we continue to create a nurturing, encouraging environment for each child to grow, learn, and shine.
Warm regards,
Katie O’Brien
Principal, Lincoln Early Learning Center

A Note from the Health Office
Absences
If your child will be absent from school because of illness, doctors’ appointments or vacation, please contact us at Lincoln at 847-949-2720. Please notify the school office by 9:30 a.m. the day of the absence to leave a recorded message regarding your child's absence. Keeping track of all the students on a daily basis is a huge task and we greatly appreciate your prompt attention.
Medical Forms
Annual Physical Examinations are required within the first 30 days of entering preschool. All forms can be emailed, faxed, or brought in with your student. If we do not receive your child’s physical, your child will be excluded from school and cannot return to school until submitted. Per IL State Law we must have a child’s physical by October 15 or within 30 days of starting preschool.
Illness and Injuries
Please remember that any child with a fever should stay home until they have been fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication, for at least 24 hours. Students should also remain home if they are experiencing vomiting or diarrhea. Students may NOT return to school for at least 24 hours after the last episode.
**We are seeing an increase in nurse office visits with sick students. It is imperative that the health office has current telephone numbers for parents and designated emergency contact persons. You are responsible for someone picking your child up within 30 minutes of the call.**
Medications
All medications, feeding, and treatment supplies are to be supplied by the parent per school policy.
Doctor’s orders for medications, feedings, and treatments are required at the beginning of each school year. The school nurse will not accept or administer any medications (including over the counter medications) or perform nursing services or treatments without a doctor’s order. Please do not send medication to school in your child's backpack. All medication must be brought to school by a parent or guardian.
Any questions related to the above health office guidelines should be directed to the health office staff.

A Letter from the Principals
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this week’s Fremont Parent University virtual presentation. This event, held in collaboration with district staff and The Reading League, highlighted our commitment to advancing literacy through the latest evidence-based practices.
Our guest speaker, Ryan Buggy from The Reading League, provided valuable insight into the evidence-based literacy practices that define the Science of Reading and the professional development he is conducting with our district administrators and teachers. His work with us directly supports Objective 2.d. of the district’s strategic plan: to refine literacy curriculum, resources, instruction, PreK-8 alignment, and services, ensuring they reflect the most current evidence-based standards for long-term, equitable achievement.
This presentation reinforced how we are putting this objective into action, with a focused effort on reviewing our literacy curriculum and resources across grade levels, enhancing our instructional practices, and promoting equitable outcomes for all students. These initiatives not only advance literacy in FSD79, but also strengthen our commitment to implementing proven practices that support all students in developing strong literacy skills.
A recording of the presentation and a few key resources are linked below to further support your understanding of our literacy efforts.
We are proud of the steps we are taking to implement these impactful literacy practices and grateful for your continued partnership in supporting our students’ learning.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to continuing this journey in literacy together.
