HHS Choir Update
October 2024
IT'S CONCERT MONTH!! We've got a busy month ahead but I am so unbelievably excited for you to see what these incredible students have been working on! Here's what you need to know!
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CHOIR CABARET IS IN NOVEMBER THIS YEAR!! 11/15!!
Requiem for the Living Rehearsals/Performances
To start the school year the HHS Choirs will combine together to make one massive choir as they perform Dan Forrest's "Requiem for the Living." This is the third large work that the choir will perform, the first being Gabriel Faure's Requiem back in 2019, & John Rutter's Requiem back in 2022. In order to make this piece work with all choir students, there will be Explorer Period rehearsals. Unless students have been assigned by another teacher to complete/retake a test, students should come to the choir room to practice the Requiem with all choir students. This will let students learn the music more thoroughly and get a chance to meet others outside of their own respective choir.
The mandatory rehearsal that all choir students must attend will be on Wednesday October 16th in the HHS Auditorium from 8:00 AM - 9:15 AM (during the AM late start). This is when our orchestra students will join us for one rehearsal so it is crucial that all students are in attendance.
Below is the rehearsal/performance schedule for the Requiem for the Living. Please make sure these dates are reflected in your calendar.
Please note that Friday October 18th is a rehearsal at BBHHS and students must provide their own transportation to the school. The rehearsal will take place from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Call time for students | 6:30 PM in the HHS Choir Room
Concert starts at 7:00 PM
Remember, to be early is to be on time! Students should come dressed in their choir uniform. All students should have their choir uniforms and are responsible for altering them so they fit correctly. Vocal Impact students, your uniforms should ship this week and will arrive next week.
Thanks to those who ordered spirit wear from RDP. It will arrive the week of the concert (10/14) for the students to be able to wear to help promote the concert
BBHHS & HHS Choirs will combine to perform Dan Forrest's "Requiem for the Living" on Saturday October 19th at 7:30 PM. HHS Choir members need to arrive at the church at 6:00 PM. There is a parking garage right next to the church. A combined rehearsal will take place at BBHHS (6380 Mill Rd., Broadview Heights, OH 44147) on Friday October 18th from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Students are responsible for providing their own transportation.
The “Choir Cabaret” is the annual signature fundraiser of the award winning Hudson High School Choral Program. This event features performances from our Men & Women’s Choirs as well as our audition only groups Bella Voce and Chamber Choir. The evening also showcases performances from individual choir members or choir members in small groups, who audition to perform specifically at the Cabaret. This wonderful evening of music provides the opportunity for our students to shine in an intimate setting outside of the high school auditorium.
The Choir Cabaret was established so that we can give our HHS Choir students unparalleled experiences. Through the amazing generosity that we've received since the Cabaret began, we've been able to give our students the chance to work with composer Sydney Guillaume and perform a piece that he wrote specifically for the HHS Choirs entitled "G on Jan Pou Ye." We've also brought the OSU Men's & Women's Glee Clubs to Hudson HS for a day of clinics and an evening performance. With your help we hope to continue to be able to offer our students even more incredible opportunities!
This school year’s Choir Cabaret will be held on Friday, November 15th at 7pm at The Center (formerly SYB Hall).
Learn more about the Cabaret at our website: https://www.hudsonhighchoirs.com/2024-cabaret.html
We are in need of donations for our silent auction and raffle baskets - would you be interested in donating an item/basket for our silent auction or raffle? There are still slots available here: Cabaret Donations. We have proposed some basket ideas but please feel free to come up with your own! Each family donating an item for the raffle/silent auction will have their name listed in the Cabaret program. If you have a connection with a local business, please feel free to give them our attached flyer to see how they might participate.
We are also looking for volunteers to donate homemade or purchased items for our food & beverage tables the night of the event: Cabaret Baked Goods. Please have a look to see how you can help - new items have been added with the links that may be used to purchase the items.
Our 4th annual Choir Cabaret is fast approaching on November 15th. This year we are introducing the possibility to sponsor the event, with each sponsorship level providing businesses or families with multiple benefits. If your family or business is interested in being a sponsor for this year's Cabaret, please complete this form below. If you sponsor the event before October 15th, your name/logo will be included on the Cabaret invitation!
Thank you for supporting this wonderful night that really showcases the student talent here at Hudson and raises money that directly goes back to the experiences the choir students will have this year and in future years.
We're Looking for Fall Concession Volunteers
Fall 2024 HHS Concessions are now available. Both programs are a major source of fundraising for the [orchestra or choir] and our distribution of funds is based on the number of volunteers from each music program. New this year, all of our sign ups within the music programs are linked.
