Pawfully Playfull
We have had a busy week of working collaboratively to build towers of ice for our penguin colony, using polite forms when requesting and sharing with arctic friends in our igloo, and packing our “suitcases” with everything we need for a trip to the arctic. We read What Snowmen Do At Night, and discussed WHO was in the story and WHAT the characters were DOING while the students retold the story and answered comprehension questions. We made snow cones and discussed the similarities and differences between our sound of the week from last week, /s/, and the sound of the week this week, /z/. Finally, we welcomed a new friend to our classroom! The students were so sweet and helped him feel right at home with all of us.
Developmental Dot!🔵
Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines a sentence as “a group of words that expresses a statement, question, command, or other idea.” Research has shown us that by three years of age, children should be able to make a complete sentence (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)). A complete sentence must have a subject (direct or implied) and a predicate. You can teach your child what a complete sentence is by asking them to tell you WHO is DOING WHAT. The question forms WHAT, WHO, and WHERE are the first forms, in that order, that a child learns to answer. At home when you are playing with your child, reading a book, or watching a video, you can model this sentence structure and label WHO is DOING WHAT with something directly in front of your child. Read more about sentence and question development at ASHA.
Attendance Matters
As the school year starts to get underway, we want to remind parents about the importance of school attendance. It is important to minimize absences whenever possible. We ask families to do whatever they can to schedule appointments outside the school day. Also, please try to schedule family trips that avoid you child missing multiple days of school.

CJSH Athletics
Hello Clinton Community School District Families,
What a fantastic week at CJSH. The boys basketball team had 3 games this week, and had victories in all 3 games. They had the opportunity to play at the Fiserv Forum, and if you were in attendance on Thursday night, you saw a ten year old scoring record broken by Reagan Flickinger. It was a great night of basketball where your Cougars beat the East Troy Trojans, but it was a back and forth game that had some special moments from both teams.
Then we ended the week with a Cougars wrestling win against Big Foot, where we celebrated parents night.
Lastly, a big thank you to the Booster Club who put together a great event Saturday at the Annual Super Bowling/ Trivia Night!
If you are interested in helping out with a game or event please contact Mr. Gamble, tygamble@clintonwis.com. This would include running a scoreboard, scorebook, etc… and don’t worry we can train you on how to complete each task.. Thank you for considering and supporting extra-curricular activities at CJSH.
BOOSTER CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT- The booster club is looking for new faces to get involved every month. For the past 5 years, the booster club has helped initiate big projects at CJSH and they continue to support our students with some great opportunities. One of the easiest ways to help is in the concession stand. Please reach out to Tana Shallenberger or Tammy Theisen- if you are interested in helping. tana.shallenberger@gmail.com or tammyarbonne@aol.com
