PRINCIPAL'S WEEKLY MESSAGE
Happy Friday Ridgeview families! Here are your weekly updates.
Thank you to all those who were able to join us for our final Lunch With A Loved One event this week. It was another successful event! We appreciate our families so much and look forward to hosting you all again next school year.
State Testing begins for us next week! We are so very excited for our kiddos to show their talents and skills in reading, math, and science. This is a tough time of the year for our kiddos due to all the testing so it’s important for all of us, staff and families, that we set them up for the most success possible. Below are the testing dates, as well as some testing tips for home. If you have any questions about testing, please feel free to reach out to an administrator.
OST ELA: April 1 & 2
OST Math: April 24 & 25
OST 8th Grade Science: April 29 & 30
Info for Parents at Home:
Please make sure students charge their chromebooks overnight, as the building does not have loaners and/or chargers for students to borrow to use.
Students should eat breakfast, whether at home or at school to have fuel for testing. Food cannot be in the testing room.
Though we will be on an adjusted bell schedule during these days, school will still begin at 7:15 am. Please be sure students arrive to school on time! It’s that Important!!
Please be advised that we will be following our building testing protocols. Student devices will be collected and other personal belongings (ex: backpacks) will be placed in one area of the classroom until the testing window is closed for each testing day. There is no exception to this rule! Students who violate these protocols could receive disciplinary action.
Encourage your student(s) to do their best, take their time, and use the skills they’ve been learning all year. They’ve got this! We know this! We need the students to know this, receive it, and get ‘er done!
Due to the high number of tardies recently to classes, we reimplemented hall sweeps this week. Any student caught in the hallway after the tardy bell and no hall pass was swept to one part of the building for a quick meeting to discuss expectations. Moving forward, any student caught in a hall sweep will be assigned detention. This does include being tardy going to lunch, as it is a course on their schedule. Keeping hallways clear is a safety protocol. We hope this will clean up many areas. Please talk with your student(s) about the importance of getting to classes on time. Thanks in advance.
The weather is beginning to change a little bit and already we are seeing a change in our dress code. However, our dress code hasn’t changed at all. Parents/guardians please make sure your students dress appropriately for school. Slides are still not appropriate. They must have a closed toe shoe. Half shirts are not appropriate. Stomachs, shoulders must always be covered. Shorts should cover all necessary areas of the body. They should be at least mid-thigh length. Students who come to school out of dress code have the option of wearing something from our care closet or making a phone call home.
Lastly, new t-shirts are now available to order, as well as previous items. See further down in the newsletter for each tee design. If you have questions, contact Tiffany Dalton in the main office.
Take care everyone and we’ll see you again next week! GO TIGERS!

Spring testing - the Ohio Assessment Testing
Please take a look at the testing dates below to avoid scheduling appointments if at all possible. If a student starts a test, they will need to finish the test that same day.
Reminder to all parents - be sure students come to school with their Chromebooks fully charged and earbuds. Students will be testing from 7:15am to about 10:00am.
Per testing policy, students can not have their cell phones, watches with internet access, air-pods or beats out during the test, if at all possible leave these at home. If not, teachers will be collecting devices during testing and returning them after.
If a student misses a test, they will have to make it up during class time and will be missing instruction.
Thank you for supporting us.

Community Service Club
Community outreach and involvement is one of the ongoing goals for Pickerington Ridgeview Jr. High. Over the years, they have raised money, collected supplies, created awareness and contributed ideas for important local and global issues, and more. This year is no different. The School Counselors at Ridgeview, Kris Owen, Erica Reynolds, and Meghan Wade, lead a Community Service Club that meets Monthly at Ridgeview. So far this year, the students have made supplies for a local dog shelter, painted positive message rocks to place around the school, helped to clean-up/beautify the school property, and most recently, collected supplies for the homeless.
The students consulted with a local food pantry to determine what items to collect. They had a contest among classes to promote kids bringing in supplies. They then sorted the items and made individual to-go bags for men and women to be easily distributed to the homeless. We reached out to a homeless mission to donate all of the bags along with mats that our Media Center Specialist, Kim Kissell, has kids make throughout the year, in addition to blankets, coats, etc. We were able to fill a van with the items that were donated.
The mission is BBlessed2, founded by Doreatha Reid. who was recently featured on, NBC4 in a segment on Extraordinary Women. Ridgeview Jr. High is proud to be able to partner with her to provide needed supplies for her share with local homeless populations. HELP Make Our Schools Safer
The Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Public Safety have launched the SaferOH tip line that will accept both calls and texts 24 hours a day.
This tip line allows students and adults to anonymously share information with school officials and law enforcement about threats to student safety—whether that involves a threatened mass incident or harm to a single student.
Every tip can remain anonymous. School safety analysts may ask for additional information, but the caller can remain secret or leave his or her contact information for later follow-up.
Calls or texts to 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) are answered by analysts in the Ohio Homeland Security’s Threat Assessment and Prevention (TAP) Unit. When action is needed, the TAP Unit immediately forwards information to Pickerington Schools, local law enforcement agencies, and others, if necessary.
