Go Eagles! ๐ฆ
2024-2025 First Days of School ๐
It's hard to believe that we have just completed our second week of school. It feels like just the other day we were welcoming our students and families back to school.
We are certainly getting things off the ground. Instruction is going full throttle and our students have not skipped a beat. In fact, they are doing great keeping up with new routines. For example, all K-5 teachers have introduced Math "Number Corner".
Number Corner is a daily 15-20 minute skill building Math program that revolves around the classroom calendar. The daily morning "workouts" introduce, reinforce and extend skills and concepts related to the critical areas of study at each grade level. For example, some of the key skills and concepts students will develop in 1st grade include counting in groups of tens and ones, telling time, and developing and using strategies to solve single and double digit addition/subtraction problems. Each grade will continue to engage in ongoing daily morning "workouts" through the use of games, activities and manipulatives, while developing their Math skills.
Take a look at some of the special moments caught on camera during Number Corner.

Book of the Month - "The Dot" by Peter Reynolds
International Dot Day - A global celebration creativity, courage and collaboration!
"Just make a mark and see where it takes you."
The Dot is about a girl named Vashti who thinks she can't draw. Her teacher encourages her to start with just a dot, and that simple dot leads her to explore her creativity.
Our art teacher, Ms. Dietrick, and our media specialist, Ms. Murray, did an amazing job collaborating on this very special K-5 project that showcases the creativity of our students. After all students read the book, they created their own initial dot in Art class and embellished their dot in Media class, resulting in the creation of the "happy dot people."
It all started with a dot and look at the masterpieces they created below!
