World Autism Acceptance Month
Moving from Surviving to Thriving: Autistic Individuals Share Regional Perspectives
Every year, the UN chooses a theme to follow for World Autism Day. This year's theme is "Moving from Surviving to Thriving: Autistic Individuals Share Regional Perspectives."
This theme acknowledges and honors the effort put forth by Autistic self-advocates globally, and puts an emphasis on listening to Autistic people's points of view when speaking about autism. A panel event, posted to the United Nations youtube channel, features an all-autistic lineup of panelists from all walks of life, representing six regions: Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin American and the Caribbean, North America and Oceania. One panelist is a Philly native!
