After some observations in class, and looking at some pre-assessments I have decided to combine numbers to 20 (Chapter 7) and Numbers to 40 (Chapter 12). The students will use number sense strategies to represent a two-digit number. Some skills we will be practicing are:
-using a place value chart and place value blocks to represent a number
-showing objects as tens and ones
-comparing numbers using a number line
and ordering numbers by making number patterns
If students can understand number sense and manipulate different numbers, then they will have a great foundation for two-digit addition/subtraction! Which will be our upcoming chapter. :)
