Ag Sales & Public Speaking CDE for FFA
Several of our students attended a CDE competition on public speaking. They had to prepare a speech on an agriculture topic and present it by memory to the judges. The judges then asked them questions about their topic after their speech. In the beginning contest category, Kenzie H. competed and placed third. In the advanced contest category, Rhyana E. placed second. For the extemporaneous category, the participant had to draw a topic out of a bowl and write a speech and then present it and answer questions. Megan K. placed 1st in this category. Rhyana and Megan will move onto district competition this month.
Congratulations to Courtney B.
Congratulations to Courtney B.! Courtney is the recipient of the Heath LaSertoma Award and will represent Northridge High School. Courtney will be honored at a banquet in February. Thank you for your leadership Courtney!

We are thrilled to be able to partner with C-TEC again this spring to bring this opportunity back to our juniors and seniors!
Competencies covered include patient preparation, specimen collection techniques, processing, safety, and compliance considerations. Students will also receive their CPR credential through American Heart Association. Students who successfully complete the program will sit for their NHA (National Healthcareer Association) CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) credential. Arts and Sciences Summer Exploration Program
The Arts and Sciences Summer Exploration program offers middle and high school students one-week intensive academic enrichment courses intended to introduce them to new areas of study or allow them to engage in content they may already have an interest in. Information on tardies to school and to class
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As mentioned in previous newsletters, student tardiness has been closely monitored and identified as an area of concern. It is essential for students to be on time to school and to class daily. Beginning Monday, January 27th staff will be reviewing the following guidelines concerning student tardiness with their first period class.
Tardies include arrival to school and classes late
Teachers will be taking attendance each period
If you stay after class to talk to a staff member, ask for a written pass for the next period
Reports will be run weekly by the office staff
Consequences:
3rd tardy - Call home to alert parent / guardian that their student has received their 3rd tardy.
4th tardy - Lunch detention
5th tardy + - Wednesday school
It will be the discretion of Mrs. Brechbill when an In School Restriction is assigned.
Please review these expectations with your student and we thank you for your support.

Student Drop Off - Pick Up
Please use the appropriate drop off and pick up location for students in the mornings and afternoon. We have had some parents parking in the student parking lot (taking up student spots)
in the morning while they wait to drop their student off at the front door. Drop off/Pick Up is to be at door #3.
Drive to Succeed
The Licking County Health Department has a Drive to Succeed program intended to increase access to driving school to young drivers in Licking County regardless of economic status. LCHD can provide vouchers for eligible students to complete driving school at low-cost ($10.00 fee) through Licking Valley Driving School. Students must be located in the county and be between the ages of 16-17 at enrollment and complete the training before their 18th birthday. Eligibility requirements for the program are provided in the attached application.
In regard to sharing the application and flyer, you can do this in any way you see fit for your school. We simply want students to be aware of the program we offer, and we would like to provide them with easier access to the application. The application and flyer could be shared electronically or on paper in your school. I would recommend that completed applications be submitted directly to LCHD by individual students/families as the vouchers for this program are provided on a first come first serve basis.
The completed application, proof of permit, and proof of student eligibility can be printed and mailed to LCHD, printed and dropped off to LCHD, or emailed to dts@lickingcohealth.org. This information is provided in more detail at the bottom of the application. Any questions the families or students may have can also be directed to dts@lickingcohealth.org.
ATTENDANCE
Once your child reaches three tardies to school, they will be assigned a Wednesday School (2:30 - 3:30 PM).
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Parent Square - Attendance
Daily Attendance Notifications
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to introduce a new and efficient way of keeping you informed about your child’s attendance at school. Northridge has activated the School Attendance feature in ParentSquare. We believe this change will benefit you and your children.
Daily Attendance Notifications
Through ParentSquare, you will receive a prompt notification informing you of your child’s school absences. These notifications will help you stay up-to-date, ensuring you are notified if your student is not present at school. Northridge will send the notifications in both voice and text formats.
Attendance Notes from Parents and Guardians
One of the key benefits of this feature is that it allows you to send attendance notes back to the school through the Parent Square app if your student is absent. This feature significantly reduces the need for phone calls to the school and makes it more convenient for you to communicate important information about your child’s absence. Parents and guardians may still call the main office and send in a written note to notify us of an absence, but most will find using the Parent Square platform more convenient. The reason for the student’s absence must be reported to the school within two days, per district policy.
We are confident that utilizing this tool will significantly enhance communication, making it easier for you to stay informed about your student’s attendance.

Our Busy School
Focus and Attention
We are working hard to try to develop the skill of Focus and Attention at NHS. Our teachers are using collaborative skills and networking with students in hopes to increase academic successes with our students. We actively utilize our Connect period to work EXTRA with your children and provide possible extensions to lessons in the classroom. Our Building Leadership Team have designed a student survey that we give weekly to analyze what teaching strategies the students think are most effective and what barriers they have to focused learning opportunities. We will utilize this data to create better designed instructional plans for our students.
