Keefe Regional Technical School
May 17, 2024
From Dr. Snow:
Good afternoon,
A special congratulations to our seniors on their last official day of high school!
A reminder that Math MCAS is May 21 & May 22 - all grade 10 students need to be here at 7:30AM and all students in grades 9 & 11 will have a late start time of 10:35AM. Buses will run their regular routes twice those mornings to accommodate both start time.
Below are some important dates for our grade 12 students. Please note - some dress requirements and recommendations for graduation can be found below.
Dress: While we appreciate and value students' backgrounds, personalities, styles and future plans, the Keefe Tech graduation is a formal commencement ceremony. Attire for graduation must be fitting of the tone of the ceremony and highlight students' membership in their school and class rather than underscore their personal preferences. As such, only Keefe Tech issued cords, sashes and other additions to their gowns will be permitted. Please do not purchase or wear outside decorations for your gown - they will not be permitted.
Graduation is held outdoors and students will need to walk a bit of a distance from the meeting spot to their seats, and walk across a grass lawn. Please be sure you are wearing shoes that you are able to walk in and that will accommodate the grass lawn.
Below are some important dates and events for your calendar!
Senior Awards Night: May 22, 2024 at 6PM (Students receiving an award will receive an invitation)
Graduation rehearsal: May 28, 2024 at 12:00PM at Keefe Tech (Required for all graduating seniors)
Graduation: May 29, 2024 at 6PM (Rain date, May 30) at the Warren Conference Center in Ashland. All graduating seniors will receive 6 tickets, and all guests need a ticket to enter.
One final reminder for students and families - school attendance is required to earn credit and to be promoted to the next grade level. Students who exceed 16 absences (excused and/or unexcused) are required to make up the time they missed. Grade 12 students will not be graduation eligible if their attendance exceeds 16 absences. If you are concerned about your attendance, please check in with your school counselor or Mr. McGrath (jmcgrath@jpkeefehs.org), who oversees attendance.
Have a great weekend,
Dr. Snow

Family Resource:
The McLean School Consultation Service is excited to announce our second annual “Leaders in Youth Mental Health Series.” For the 2023-2024 academic year, McLean will be hosting 7 free parent webinars presented by McLean clinical experts. The topics will focus on childhood suicidality/self-harm, childhood irritability, pediatric anxiety disorders and OCD, navigating the mental health system for youth in crisis, supporting non-binary and transgender youth, and partnering with schools for youth services and supports.
From the office of Ms. Fairclough:
Dear parents/guardians:
May is the national mental health awareness month; so in this issue I will talk a little bit about therapy. Sometimes students have some overwhelming issues that need more time and attention than a school check in can offer. We regularly refer students to therapy and point out a new resource in Framingham that makes it a lot easier to find one.
The state has created the establishment of many new walk-in centers for parents to more easily find therapists for their children, such as Advocates, 1094 Worcester Road, in Framingham. You don't need an appointment and can register for an intake when you arrive. The center is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
I have also found that teenagers are often reluctant to talk to an outside provider, which can be frustrating if you feel they really need to. I have also attached some pointers on how to broach this topic with your child.
Visit https://www.choosingtherapy.com/find-teen-therapist/ for more tips on how to find the right therapist for your child.
Thanks,
