Grade Level Homeroom Lessons
Discuss with your students what they've learned about in their Homeroom on Wednesdays. Here are recent lessons by grade level:
9th Grade: True Colors activity. Ask your teen what 'color' they are and what that says about their personality. Did others have the same color as them? Who were they?
10th Grade: Who Are You on Social Media? Ask your teen: 1) How only posting fun trips and 'happy' activities (even when they're having a rough time) could have a negative impact on his/her real self? 2) What advice would they give a younger sibling or cousin who is new to social media (regarding what types of things to post)?
11th Grade: Recognizing When You/Others Need Help. Ask your teen: Are they facing level 1, 2 or 3 challenges right now (level 1 is something they can handle on their own such as a friend not texting back, level 3 is feeling like they need outside support from a professional)? Also, if they were ever worried about themselves or someone else, who is their 'lifeline person' - who would they call first (or 2nd, 3rd)?
12th Grade: Breaking Through Loneliness. Ask your child why teens have reported much higher rates of loneliness since 2010? Also ask what 'conversation starters' they remember from the lesson.

Support Golden HS After Prom Party on Colorado Gives Day - December 10
We need your support to help raise money for After Prom in April. Last year, almost 300 students celebrated at the Golden Community Center. They played games, enjoyed food and beverages, temporary tattoos, a photo booth, DJ, and entered to win prizes.
Donate Now -https://www.coloradogives.org/story/Ghspta-Afterprom2024
For parents of juniors and seniors, we suggest a donation of $50 or more.
GHS PTA has been providing After Prom for GHS juniors and seniors (and their guests) for over 35 years. This event is free to all juniors and seniors at GHS, regardless of their academic or attendance record and whether they attend prom or not. It is meant to provide a fun and safe night out to celebrate the end of the school year with friends. There is a huge community support behind the event, and it is run solely through the generous donations of in-kind gifts, time, funds, or use of facilities from the City of Golden, Police and Fire Departments, businesses, foundations, clubs and families.
Thank you for helping provide GHS with a safe, positive, and fun event!
