April 13, 2025
Dear Families,
Only one more week until spring vacation and it’s going to be a busy one! As usual before a vacation, we’ll celebrate with an all-school Spirit Week (see the flyer below). Our 5th graders will be finishing the ELA portion of the VTCAP assessment. On Wednesday they’ll be attending a trip to the Lyndon Outing Club to meet their future 5th grade classmates from the Concord School.
Friday is a big day as it is our annual “Trashion Show”. Students have been working extremely hard for two weeks preparing their outfits and inventions. The show begins promptly at 9:00 am and all families are welcome to attend. We hope to see you!
In addition, we are so fortunate to have an Author in Residency this week. Thanks to Deborah Thomas at the Alden Balch Memorial Library, author Natalie Kinsey-Warnock will be spending time collaborating with our students on a project where they will be learning about their heritage through research about their families. Kinsey-Warnock, who has written several books on her own family history, will share her stories and ask our students to learn about their own stories. She grew up in the Northeast Kingdom and has written 20 books. She travels to schools throughout New England with her "Storykeepers" project and we are so fortunate to have her in Lunenburg this week! Be prepared to answer questions at home about old items from your family and your genealogy history. In early May students will share their learning in an all community event! Stay tuned for more information!
I have attached a letter about the residency and what information your children might be gathering. Feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions. We look forward to seeing families on Friday morning. Have a great week and relaxing vacation!
With love and gratitude,
Mrs. MacQueen
