Dear Falcon Families,

Parent-teacher conferences continue this week, which means minimum days. If you haven't signed up yet, please do so! It’s a valuable opportunity to discuss your child's progress, strengths, and areas for growth. Your involvement is key to their success.

Otay's Safety Patrol is doing an outstanding job promoting safety and ensuring students use the crosswalk. Please help by driving slowly around and on campus.

Lastly, I wish you and your family a wonderful fall break! I encourage your family to participate in Scholastic's Fall Reading Challenge. Flyers will be sent home this week, and students who join in and return the log by Tuesday, 10/8, will receive a special reward from me. Be sure to read the links below on how to prioritize reading routines at home and some popular read-alouds the whole family will love.

Continue to ask your child daily: Did you get into the Learning Pit? At Otay, we encourage students to use a growth mindset to face challenges, have a go at something new, try with a willingness to be confused or make mistakes along the way, and to persist in problem solving.

You can pay the $10 membership fee in cash. Stop by the front office. The primary and upper grade classes with the highest percentage of memberships will receive 15 minutes of extra recess on Friday, 9/20.

• For safety reasons, students must wear flat, close-toed shoes
• Every minute of instruction counts. If your child forgets snack, lunch, or water, do not worry. Second Chance and lunch will be provided. They also have access to water fountains. We kindly ask that you refrain from dropping off any items. Let’s work together to help our falcons build responsibility.
• Please note that if your child is not picked up on time at dismissal, you'll need to sign them out from the office.
