It is hard to believe we are already in August! Later this month we will welcome students back into SES, and I can't wait! I look forward to meeting all the students and families. This month staff will be busy getting the school ready and getting prepared to have an awesome start to the school year. As some of you may know K-8 will be implementing a new math program this year at SES. Illustrative Mathematics is an interactive problem based math curriculum with engaging content that strengthens problem solving skills. K-8 math teachers will be participating in training this August to familiarize themselves with the new program.
We have some new faces at SES and some familiar faces in new roles.
Kate Mrozicki- Special Education 5-8, Kate most recently has been working as an ed tech III at SES and will move into the middle school special education role.
Libby Bishop-7/8 ELA and Social Studies, Libby most recently has taught 6-8 ELA and 7/8 Social Studies but this year Libby will teach ELA and Social Studies for grades 7 and 8.
Karen Galella-7/8 Math and Science, Karen most recently taught 6-8 math, this year Karen will teach math and science for grades 7 and 8.
Christopher Rozek-PE, Christopher is moving to the area from Southern Maine and we are excited to welcome him as our new PE teacher.
Kevin DeBeck-Grade 6- Kevin has recently moved to the area from Pennsylvania. He has a passion for history and social studies and will also be teaching grade six math, ELA and science.
We are excited to welcome new staff to Surry, and at this time we are still looking to fill two Ed Tech positions for the 2024-2025 school year. Ed Tech Application
