LIVONIA CAREER TECHNICAL CENTER
NEWSLETTER~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~SEPTEMBER 13, 2024
Dear LCTC Community,
What a great week of learning at LCTC. We are seeing our students becoming more comfortable in the building and starting to build relationships with their peers. One of the most unique aspects of LCTC is how our Churchill, Franklin, and Stevenson students blend together in their respective classes and truly form an LCTC community.
Our open house will be Wednesday, September 18th at 7:00 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents and guardians to meet the staff, tour the building and learn about the CTE program their child is participating in this school year. We hope to see you there.
As always, do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
With LCTC Pride,
Mrs. Gray

SCHOOL TO TOOLS
The Schools to Tools Mobile Field Trip visited Livonia Career Technical Center. The mobile field trip features engaging hands-on challenges, alongside dynamic virtual experiences that lets students step into the world of skilled trades. Students participated in nailing, framing and leveling challenges, became virtual welders thanks to augmented reality, took a virtual jobsite tour and learned about apprenticeship opportunities. Students gained valuable insights and hands-on experience thanks to the guidance of the Council of Carpenters and Millwrights. It was an enriching opportunity for students to explore new career paths and develop practical skills.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE CLASSES
Criminal Justice students discuss ethics and interpret ethical dilemmas in law enforcement.
PRE-MEDICINE CLASS
Pre-medicine students are learning about how to prevent the spread of infection. While learning how to prevent infection we learned how to don (put on) and doff (take off) our PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). They had to doff their PPE without getting any "stool" on their hands. Most were successful! All had fun!
ANIMATION & WEB DESIGN / GAME DESIGN
Students in Animation/Web Design and Game Design began the year by building a community. Students learned each other's names and participated in a variety of team building activities designed to get to know one another.
Students learned about the GNAP Theory of Introductions, how to shake hands properly, what a Resume is and Dressing for Success.

Supporting Youth Going Back to School
Dear Parents and Guardians of the Livonia Public Schools School Community,
As the new school year begins, supporting our youth's mental health is more important than ever. The new school year can bring feelings of both anxiety and excitement as students transition into a new grade, perhaps a new school, and are all in turn learning and growing into who they are.
We have provided a Back to School resource packet for parents and teachers who are navigating through this time. Click here to access to the flyer.
By working together, we can create an environment where our children thrive. Remember, Care Solace offers valuable mental health care coordination services to connect you with community-based providers for counseling, therapy, and more.
To access Care Solace:
- Call 888-515-0595: Their multilingual helpline is staffed 24/7/365.
- Visit www.caresolace.com/livonia: Explore mental health providers independently or click "Book Appointment" for personalized assistance.
By joining hands as a community, we can provide a nurturing environment that supports the mental health and well-being of our youth. Let's prioritize their emotional growth and create a brighter future together.
