What an amazing week at Mohegan Elementary School. We celebrated Read Across America Week with daily activities. We are grateful that the PTO sponsored a visit from Author Lizzy Rockwell who spoke to all the grade levels about her writing process. See some of the pictures of our week at the end of this newsletter.
MUSTANGS READS TOGETHER
This year we will once again be reading a book as an entire school. This past week, students were given clues about what book we would be reading. On Monday, March 10th, we will have an assembly to announce the book that we will be reading together as a school. Each family will get a copy of the book that they can bring home and read at night. I want to thank the PTO for generously buying all the books for our students.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
Kindergarten Registration for the 2025-2026 school year has begun! If you have a child who will turn 5 by September 1st, 2025, please call the school to set up an appointment. Pass the word along to other families in Shelton as well.
EARLY DISMISSAL DAYS
We have many early dismissal days coming up in March. The following Fridays are early dismissal days: March 14th, 21st and 28th.
Here are the school hours on scheduled early dismissal days:
K-4 - 9:00am - 1:50pm
Pre-K AM - 9:00am - 11:05am
Pre-K PM - 11:45am - 1:50pm
Please plan accordingly.
SPRING PICTURE DAY
Spring Picture Day is coming up on March 13th.
ST. PATRICK’S DAY
St. Patrick’s Day is on Monday, March 17th! Wear green and show your Irish pride (even if you aren’t Irish!).
PARENT CONFERENCES
Parent Conferences will be held on Thursday, March 20th and Thursday, March 27th from 6pm to 8pm. Teachers sent out conference sign ups today. Conference times are only 10 minutes long. Should you want more time to speak with your child’s teacher, please set up a separate time to meet. Conferences will be held in person at Mohegan Elementary School.
If you wish to speak with a Specials teacher (Art, Music, PE, Media), please sign up using the link below. Please be aware that Ms. Piccolo (Media) and Mr. Brentson (Music) will only be at Mohegan on 3/27.

GAGABALL PIT
Local resident and former Mohegan Mustang Max Cartolano completed his Eagle Scout Project at Mohegan Elementary School. Max led a group of scouts and adults to build a Gagaball pit for the students. The PTO helped fund his project. Special thanks to Max for all his hard work. We wish him the best of luck as he goes before a Board of Review to complete the requirments for his Eagle Badge. See some pictures of students playing below.
For parents who do not know, Gagaball is a game similar to dodgeball where students stand in an octogon and hit a ball on the ground trying hit other students below the knee. The students can get a little dirty as they dive on the woodchip floor to avoid getting hit, but it is a lot of fun! All students will be able to participate soon.
