Language Specific Trainings
GLOBE actively partners with and supports the growth of DLI schools across the region. Last week, K-5 DLI teachers were able to participate in professional learning tours with Brandon Elementary School (Atlanta Public Schools). We are thankful for our school partnerships and enthusiastic to share best practices in immersion programming and instruction.

YHALE (Yi Hwang Academy of Language Excellence) participated in a Professional Learning Tour at GLOBE Upper Campus this past Friday. GLOBE K-5 lead teachers were able to visit their program in November. YHALE teachers and administrators commented on GLOBE students’ and teachers' language use and confidence to use the partner language in class to easily express themselves. We are so happy to share best practices with other programs and uplift DLI programs in our area.
GLOBE Elementary new campus update
Mobile units were delivered this week. Crews continue to work on completion of electrical systems and HVAC, and hallways and classrooms continue to take shape.
GLOBE recently sent out an email update on the progress of our new campus for grades K through 5. You can view the email here. Thank you to everyone who has sent in questions, the vast majority of which will be answered via these weekly updates. Continue to submit your questions here.
What is the technology in the classrooms? ie. smart boards, TVs, etc.
All classrooms will have TVs instead of projectors and screens.
Is there green space at the new campus and will there be upgrades to UC outdoor spaces?
At the new campus, yes. Please see these 3D renderings of the new campus by our partners Freespace Architecture. At UC, no upgrades at this time, but there will be in the future.
What will the UC spaces be used for when grades 4-5 leave?
We are adding two classes per grade level in grades 6–8 to match K–5, so we will need that extra space for additional classes. We also hope to have a library, tech lab, and science lab.
How will security work for access to the school?
Visitor vestibule/lobby and the process of checking in/out, staff access to buildings, etc.
At the new building, there will be a main entrance where all visitors will report to. Visitors will not be allowed to proceed beyond the vestibule. All other doors will be locked and the whole property will be fenced in.
Parent Coffee Talks
Thank you to everyone who attended last week's Parent Coffee Talk about STAMP testing. A recording of the presentation can be viewed here. Slides used during the presentation can be viewed here. You can view recordings and slides from other recent coffee talks on GLOBE's website, here.
Campus notes
Lower Campus
Francophonie celebration tomorrow at 8:30am
This year’s Francophonie performance will take place tomorrow, Thursday, March 20, at 8:30am in the Village Plaza. Doors will open at 8:20am. Families of French track students are welcome to attend.
Students will be performing again in the afternoon for students and staff, so we encourage you to NOT check out your child(ren) after the parent performance.
Parking at LC: If you are attending the event, please be mindful of where you park. Avoid parking in a 'No Parking' zone, or in a section of the neighborhood with 'No Parking' signs. The GLOBE Academy is not responsible for any parking violations/fines on public roads.
Library
Please do not mix school library books with public library books. Several books belonging to GLOBE have been returned to the DeKalb County Public Library and had to be picked up by Ms. Stowe. In the future, any books accidentally returned to the public library will be the patron's responsibility. If not picked up and returned to GLOBE, the book(s) will be considered lost and must be paid for or replaced by the student. Thank you.
LC Clinic
Please send a FULL CHANGE of clothes with your child, regardless of their grade level. As spring ramps up, there will be a lot of mud, and the clinic is unable to provide replacement clothes for every child. If your student comes to the clinic for a “mud” accident, there is a possibility we will have to reach out to you for either pickup or to bring replacement clothes. Thank you.
Please ensure that the clinic can reach you during the school day. If your child is ill, it is imperative that the clinic can arrange for pickup. If you are not reachable, the incident will be elevated to the Head of School.
Upper Campus
Francophonie celebration, tomorrow, March 20, at 1pm
This year's Francophonie celebration will take place tomorrow, Thursday, March 20, at 1pm in the UC Auditorium. Doors open at 12:45pm. Families of French track students are welcome to attend.
Help 5th grade Girl Scouts achieve their Bronze Award
5th grade Girls Scouts are working on their Bronze Award. They are collecting dog and cat treats for LifeLine as part of their community service project. Between March 26 and 28, donations will be collected in any 5th grade homeroom. Suggestions by LifeLine include milk bones, Beggin Strips, Pupperoni, Canine Carry Outs, soft and chewy treats, and Churu cat treats. Thank you on behalf of the 5th grade Girl Scouts.

Orchestra News:
On March 12, our 7th and 8th grade Parliament Orchestra received a Superior rating at the annual GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation. They prepared three songs on a level higher than we have been able to play before. Our 8th grade students have been excellent leaders in the ensemble this year and we are all very proud of them and the way they represented GLOBE at the event.
Band News
Congratulations to the 7th and 8th-grade Band on their performance last week at the Georgia Music Educators Association Large Group Performance Evaluation. The band earned Superior ratings from all judges!

Operations
Responsible parking at Upper Campus
We need your help to ensure that student pickup and drop-off do not disrupt our surrounding neighborhood, particularly on Sunset Dr. Recently, there have been serious safety concerns, including blocked roads, near-collisions, and even a school bus forced to reverse up the street due to parked cars obstructing traffic.
To maintain safe and respectful traffic flow, we ask that all parents:
- Use the designated carpool line instead of neighborhood streets.
- Do not park or stop on both sides of Sunset Dr. It is too narrow to accommodate this safely.
We appreciate your cooperation in being good neighbors and keeping our community safe. Thank you for your support!
Dress-down Thursdays
Help our 8th grade students raise money for their trip to Savannah by bringing $1 to dress down (out of uniform) each Thursday from until April 3. Please adhere to DeKalb County dress code rules. Parent volunteers will be collecting money at the school entrances of both campuses. Please make every effort to bring the exact change.
Important notes: Tomorrow (March 20) French students will need to wear the recommended attire for the Francophonie celebration.
Summer Language Camp 2025
Details of this year's Summer Language Camp program in June, can be viewed here. There will be one language track per week offered due to space limitations as the school relocates to its new campus building (for K–5) over summer break 2025.
Summer Language Camp 2025 will run during the following weeks: June 9 (Mandarin), June 16 (French) and June 23 (Spanish). Registration is now open.
