IMPORTANT!!!

Reminder! Make any changes in the SDM dismissal app before school begins tomorrow!!


If your child will be a parent pick up or if they are attending the BAS program, those MUST be entered into the SDM app. Otherwise, the students will be placed on their default bus home. Also, please double check the app to see that the bus number that is their default is correct.

Arrival and dismissal Times and Protocols

ARRIVAL

Students will be let off of buses and out of cars at 8:50am. The school day begins at 9:00am, so please plan accordingly if you plan to drop your child off.


Parents will pull into the Visitors Lot when arriving and position themselves in the loop. Students will be removed from their vehicles by staff members at that loop beginning at 8:50am. Please do not allow your child out of the car without an MES adult signaling to do so as we want to maintain safety.


DISMISSAL

Students will begin to load buses and be brought to parent pick up at approximately 3:25. Parents who are picking up students, please stage yourselves in the Visitors Parking Loop. A staff member will be checking you in via the SDM app.

Similarly to last year, we appreciate your patience as we work through any kinks at the beginning of the school year. Our hope is that by week two we will be a well-oiled and efficient machine!!

We encourage all students to ride the bus if possible. This will help MES arrival and dismissal to run smoothly and efficiently!

Important Information for School Dismissal Manager App

  • A “Hello Parent” email was sent to your email address on file.


  • ALL parents: You will need to add the SDM App to a smartphone, tablet, or web browser.


  • For new families an email will be forthcoming with your usernames and passwords. Families who have a login from last year, you will keep your same login information. SDM sends an email out to each family so if you already have a login your credentials will be blank when the email comes.


  • IMPORTANT: All students will be defaulted to their bus. Please note: If your child will not be taking the bus you will need to log into SDM and make a change. For example, if you are going to pick up your child, you need to log in and make that change, otherwise they will board their bus home.


  • School Dismissal Manager will start on day 1.


  • If you are picking your child up at Parent Pick Up, please have your name displayed on the dashboard with your pin number. If you need us to create another card for you, please email Lisa Zinno at lzinno@region15.org.

Welcome New Crickets!

David Verrilli: Grade 1 Teacher

Dave Verrilli is so excited to join the MES community! He grew up in Naugatuck as one of four brothers, playing football and baseball throughout his life and he remains a sports fan today, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Boston Red Sox. He graduated from Naugatuck High School and Springfield College (Springfield, MA) with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and English. He has spent the last two years at Maple Hill Elementary in Naugatuck, his childhood school, as a building substitute and a long term substitute position to finish out last year in 1st grade. This experience helped him realize that 1st grade is the perfect grade for him! When not teaching, he enjoys vacationing and spending time with his friends and family, as well as his dog, Stella, and his cat, Meadow. Dave is so excited to get started at MES and to get to know the staff and students!

Rachael Summa: Math Coach

Rachael Summa is excited to join the MES community as the Math Coach. Rachael is beginning her tenth year as an elementary educator and second year in Region 15. Previously, Rachael taught grades 3-6 with New Hartford and Newington Public Schools. Rachael joined Region 15 last year, working at PES as an Intervention Specialist. Rachael recently completed her Educational Leadership sixth-year program and certification through UConn. During this time, she worked on a capstone project focused on strengthening data culture and increasing standards-based practices in mathematics instruction. Rachael is dedicated to educational equity and continuous learning, especially in mathematics instruction, to improve outcomes for all students. This summer, Rachael got married and traveled to Tahiti! She lives in Farmington with her husband John, and their dog Rocky. Rachael is looking forward to getting to know the students and families at MES, and working alongside the incredible staff!

Skye Blanchette : Learning Center Teacher

Skye Blanchette is in her fourth year of teaching and she is super excited to start in Region 15! She recently earned her sixth year certificate in assistive technology and she can’t wait to finally put everything she learned to use. Outside of teaching, Skye's favorite things to do are spending time with her cats, riding dirt bikes and kayaking!
