This Week at CCES
September 9 - 13
Our campus attendance goal is 97%
This week's attendance is 95.26 %
Cub Families,
Wow! The turn out for our book fair and grandparent event amazed us! It was such a fun event watching the students play games with their grandparents. We had a large number of books purchased for our classrooms as well. Thank you for all your generosity!
This week we had the Champion Chargers tennis team greeting students. It is always so much fun when the high school students come to our campus. Past Cubs are always welcome to join KCUB during our morning announcements. Once a Cub, always a Cub!
Just a friendly reminder, with homecomings right around the corner, elementary school does not celebrate with mums.
I hope that all of you have a wonderful weekend!

Important Message Regarding Medication
The Texas Board of Nursing no longer allows our school nurses to administer over-the-counter medications without a medical professional’s signature on our medication form. Parent permission is no longer sufficient. If your child requires regular administration of medications such as Motrin, Tylenol, or other common over-the-counter medications, please have your child’s physician, orthodontist, dentist, etc. complete the required form.
*Run Club permission form must be printed by using the above QR code and turned in by due date.*
Due date is September 30th
Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance.
- Excused or unexcused absences represent lost time in the classroom and lost opportunities to learn.
- Missing just 1 day every 2 weeks can add up to 18 days in a year.
- Students who are absent an average 15 days per year miss a year’s worth of school before their senior year.
- When students miss a day of school it actually puts them 2 days behind their classmates.
- Students with good attendance generally achieve higher grades and enjoy school more.
- Children benefit and make the most of their educational opportunities if they attend school regularly and on time.
- Official attendance times is 10:00 am for elementary school students.
- Appointments should be scheduled at the start or end of the school day to be counted as D=Doctor Appointment Same Day and not as an absence. Students must be present a portion of the day for a D absence code.
- If the student is out the entire day, they are absent.
- Every student's situation is different. If there are barriers keeping your student from being at school, reach out to your campus.
There is still time to RSVP to join us for our first CCES Coffee with the Counselor coming up on September 24th from 7:45am – 8:30am. The flyer with a QR code to RSVP is in this newsletter. You can also scan the code on the flyer in our front lobby near the sign in computer.

A Note from Nurse Miller
Here are a few helpful facts from the nurse’s office:
• Schools are required to exclude students with certain illnesses from school for periods of time as identified in state rules. For example: For a fever of 100.4 or greater a student must be kept home for 24 hrs. until they are fever free (without the aid of fever reducing medications).
• All medications must go through the nurse’s office and come directly from the parent, not from the student. For example: Do not send Tylenol, Tums, or any medication with your child. Prescription medication refills will need to be brought in by the parent in the original container and counted with the nurse. All medications must have a Dr.’s order signed by the Dr. and parent and be in their original container and kept in the nurse’s office (even over the counter medications). For further information regarding health or medications you can refer to our handbook online: http://www.boerne-isd.net
• Please keep a change of clothes in your child’s backpack in case of an accident (especially if your child is in Pre-K, Kindergarten or 1st Grade). Include: shirt, bottoms, underwear and socks. If your child comes home in clothes that are borrowed from the nurse’s office, please wash them and return them to the nurse.
• If you update your child’s immunizations, please give the nurse a copy of the new immunizations. Please make sure your child’s immunizations or exemptions are up to date as this is required by law.
• If you change your phone number or address, please let the office know so we can reach you in case of an emergency.
• Please keep your phone close to you, in case the nurse is trying to notify you. If you see this number on your phone: 830.357.4409 - it’s the nurse. Save this number.
If you need to reach me, please feel free to call or e-mail me. Thank you!
